answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/05/2019 answer text <p>Prevention is a key focus of the NHS Long Term Plan, which sets out plans to tackle risk factors for cancer such as obesity, alcohol consumption and smoking. This will have a significant impact on improving health, including for those who are at risk of developing ovarian cancer. Over the next 10 years the National Health Service will extend the use of molecular diagnostic testing and routine offering genomic testing to all patients with cancer for whom it would be of clinical benefit.</p><p>From 2019 we will start the roll-out of new Rapid Diagnostic Centres across the country to upgrade and bring together the latest diagnostic equipment and expertise, building on 10 models piloted with Cancer Research UK, which have focused on diagnosing cancers where patients often present with non-specific symptoms, often the case with ovarian cancer, and may go to their general practitioner many times before being sent for tests, such as blood and stomach cancers.</p> answering member constituency South Ribble answering member printed Seema Kennedy question first answered 13/05/2019 15:44:05 answering member 4455 label Biography information for Seema Kennedy

NE’s licencing process for badger control includes a detailed assessment of effects on protected wildlife sites such as sites of special scientific interest (SSSIs). In 2018, NE’s successful defence of judicial review proceedings against these assessments included a commitment to review its procedures on and within 2km of SSSIs, where they support bird species which may be vulnerable to a potential increase in fox predation as a result of a reduction in badger numbers. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/05/2019 answer text <p>A successful strategy for eradicating bovine TB involves addressing all routes of spread of infection, including cattle-to-cattle, cattle-to-badger, badger-to-badger and badger-to-cattle.</p><p> </p><p>As part of the Government’s 25 year bovine TB eradication strategy, we are taking strong action to eradicate the disease and protect the future of our dairy and beef industries, with emphasis on detecting infection early in cattle herds, containing and removing it as quickly as possible, and tighter biosecurity. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/05/2019 answer text <p>The Government’s priority is to protect people and the environment, and pesticides are only authorised if scientific evidence shows that they will not harm human health or have unacceptable effects on the environment.</p><p> </p><p>We carry out a thorough assessment of the scientific evidence, drawing on advice from scientists in the Health and Safety Executive and the UK Expert Committee on Pesticides. Both I and the Secretary of State are engaging with the RPA to improve the process and I have regular contact with the Rural Payments Agency’s (RPA) Chief Executive. This can be found at: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/universal-credit-29-april-2013-to-14-february-2019" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/universal-credit-29-april-2013-to-14-february-2019</a></p><p> </p><p>In many cases where full payment is not made on time, it may be due to unresolved issues such as: claimants not accepting their Claimant Commitment or passing identity checks; or having outstanding verification issues, such as housing costs and self-employed earnings. In order to support claimants to claim, we have taken steps to improve verification processes. For example, we have listened to feedback and built processes into the system to make it easier and quicker for people to verify their housing costs, for example through the landlord portal.</p><p> </p><p>From 1 April 2019 Citizens Advice (England and Wales) and Citizens Advice Scotland are delivering the new ‘Help to Claim’ support to claimants making a new Universal Credit (UC) claim or moving from a legacy benefit to UC because of a change of circumstances. The Citizens Advice Help to Claim offers tailored, practical support to help people make a UC claim up to receiving their first full correct payment on time. It will be available online, through web-chat, through a Freephone number and face to face through local Citizens Advice services.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>New claimants can also apply for a UC advance and can receive payment within a day if needed. In accordance with EU regulations, Member States contribute 80% of customs duties collected on non-EU imports. The UK consequently retains 20% of these duties to cover the costs of collection. In 2017, the UK contributed £3.2bn in customs duties to the EU. In 2017, these were estimated to be £4.1bn.</p><p> </p><p>Further breakdown of UK receipts is available through the EU Financial Report. This includes those receipts the UK receive through the public sector and private sector, i.e. receipts information on Horizon 2020 and Euratom.</p><p>The EU’s Financial Report 2017 total UK receipts at €6.3bn.
