answer text <p>The Government is committed to working with any sector that can self-organise behind strong leadership, offer a compelling case for sector specific action, and set out clear proposals to transform their sector via a sector deal. The Government is open to sector deal proposals and encourages the retail sector to come forward with ideas.</p><p> </p><p>We want to see the retail sector thrive and to do so we work closely with a range of retailers and retail associations. In March we established the Retail Sector Council to bring Government and industry together to share best practice and boost the sector’s productivity and economic health. On 7 June, my rt. hon. Friend the Secretary of State and I will be hosting a roundtable with Retail CEOs and look forward to hearing their latest thoughts.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government regularly engages with retailers and their trade unions. Since the start of this year, my rt. hon. Friend the Secretary of State has met with representatives of Unite and the Trades Union Congress (TUC).</p><p> </p><p>In addition, John Hannett, General Secretary of the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers (USDAW) is a member of the Retail Sector Council which I co-chair with Richard Pennycook. The Retail Sector Council is a key forum for engagement between Government and industry and met for the first time in March. Sector Council members are working together to share best practice and boost the sector’s productivity and economic health.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The first meeting of the Retail Sector Council was held on the 22<sup>nd</sup> March 2018, with the second meeting due to be held on the 25<sup>th</sup> June 2018.</p><p> </p><p>The following members attended the March meeting: Amazon, Asos, Association of Convenience Stores, Boots, British Retail Consortium, GFirst LEP, Keelham Farm Shop, and the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers (USDAW). I co-chaired the meeting with Richard Pennycook, Chairman of Fenwick, The Hut Group and Howden Joinery Group. answer text <p>The Government recognises that Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) can have a significant impact on the early years development of children and their life chances. Early intervention services can help reduce some of the effects of FASD and prevent some of the secondary disabilities that result. Responsibility for commissioning these services lies with clinical commissioning groups.</p><p> </p><p>The Government remains committed to tackling all alcohol-related harms and is developing a new alcohol strategy. Government officials are currently exploring what should be included in the strategy and aim to publish this early next year following discussions with stakeholders.</p> more like this

answer text <p>RBS’ recent commitments to establish an independent appeal process for consequential loss claims and to stand aside from any money that might be returned to them from redress paid to insolvent companies are important steps in improving the operation and transparency of the redress scheme for businesses affected by RBS' Global Restructuring Group.</p><p> </p><p>The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has previously confirmed that RBS’ processes as part of the compensation scheme are appropriate steps for the bank to take, and the Treasury is in regular contact with the FCA about how the voluntary scheme is progressing.</p><p> </p> more like this

Member for Norfolk North regarding the future of manufacturing operations on the Unilever site in Norwich.</p><p> </p><p>On 3 May I met the Chief Executive of New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership to discuss this issue. The Department has also been made aware of a potential application under the Rural Development Programme’s Growth Programme for funding to help set up a manufacturing and milling facility in Greater Norwich. answer text <p>In November 2016 the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) established a complaints process for small and medium-sized enterprises in their Global Restructuring Group (GRG) between 2008-2013, overseen by an independent third party, and took the decision to automatically refund complex fees paid by relevant customers to GRG during that period. RBS have set aside £400m for this scheme.</p><p> </p><p>Following a meeting with the Chief Executive of RBS I received a letter on 9 May stating that RBS have also committed to setting up an independent appeal process for consequential loss claims under the redress scheme.</p> more like this
