answer text <p>In the Civil Nuclear Roadmap, the Government committed to exploring a further Gigawatt-scale project after SZC. Wylfa is a possible site for such a project, but the Government has not yet made a decision on where such a project would be located and so has not carried out an assessment of the economic impact it would have at that location. However, by comparison, Hinkley Point C supports 10,000 jobs during construction and will support 900 permanent jobs during its 60 years of operation.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Wylfa is a candidate for new nuclear and one of a number of potential sites that could host civil nuclear projects. That said, no decisions on sites have been taken at present.</p><p> </p><p>As a first step towards developing the new nuclear National Policy Statement, the Government is consulting on a proposed way forward for determining how new nuclear developments might be located. Separately, Great British Nuclear is working with Government to support access to potential sites for new nuclear projects.</p><p>Given the NPS consultation and any discussion regarding sites would be commercially sensitive, it is too early to say more on any approach to specific sites.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government is aware of the strong interest and support in North Wales for the development of this site and continues to discuss new projects with viable companies and investors wishing to develop sites including Wylfa Newydd.</p><p> </p><p>The Net Zero Strategy is clear that nuclear is an important part of our plans to achieve net zero. Nuclear power stations provide firm low carbon power, which is required to complement variable renewable generation in order to ensure a low cost, stable, reliable, low carbon system in 2050.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has set out a new £120 million Future Nuclear Enabling Fund towards the development of nuclear projects. More details of the Fund and how it will operate will be released in due course.</p> more like this

The site is still owned by Hitachi, and the UK Government remains in discussions with them regarding its future.</p><p> </p><p>We are committed to creating a broad-based resilient economy through our modern Industrial Strategy and will continue to work with the Welsh Government and local partners to ensure that North Wales prospers.</p><p> </p><p>The Government remains committed to the nuclear sector, giving the go ahead to the first new nuclear power station in a generation at Hinkley Point C and investing £200m through our landmark Nuclear Sector Deal, which was signed in North Wales.</p> more like this
