answer text <p>His Majesty's Government does not routinely comment on operational tasking across the Royal Navy Frigate and Destroyer fleet. The location of deployed Frigates and Destroyers is made public by exception only. We also do not comment on future operations as to do so could, or would be likely to, prejudice the capability, effectiveness, or security of the Armed Forces.</p><p>However, I can confirm that there are currently seven Type 23 Frigates and three Type 45 Destroyers that are available for operations. As explained by the Secretary of State at Defence Oral questions on Monday 8 January 2024, HMS Richmond is currently sailing to the Middle East where HMS Diamond and HMS Lancaster are already operating.</p> more like this

answer text <p>On current plans, HMS Albion and HMS Bulwark will retire from service by the end of 2034.</p><p> </p><p>As part of the transformation of our Commando Forces, options for future amphibious capability are being developed in the form of the Multi Role Support Ship (MRSS). The timelines for the MRSS are yet to be confirmed.</p><p> </p><p>In the period up to Landing Platform Dock going out of service and the onset of MRSS, the Royal Navy will continue to maintain its Littoral Strike capability through its Littoral Response Groups (utilising the existing Landing Ship Dock’s (Auxiliary)) and working closely with the amphibious capabilities of our Partner Nations.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Integrated Review 21 identified Multi Role Support Ships (MRSS) as the platforms to deliver Littoral Strike. The Littoral Strike concept is centred around two Littoral Response Groups (LRG) to deliver a sovereign capability, which can be combined into larger task group formations.</p><p>The MRSS programme remains in the concept phase, and the programme and procurement strategies will be decided following phase completion. The Royal Navy will continue to assess plans and are still working to the intended in-service dates.</p><p>On current plans, the Landing Platform Dock vessels are due to be retired in the early 2030s but will form part of the LRG until the MRSS come into service.</p> more like this
