answer text <p>Under Universal Credit people are moving into work faster and staying in work for longer, and by the time it is fully rolled out we project that around 250,000 more people will be in work. There are no plans to pause the rollout of Universal Credit and deny people the real improvements Universal Credit is delivering. On 09 October the Secretary of State made a topical statement to the House of Commons confirming that the rollout will continue to the planned timescale, gradually and sensibly.</p> more like this

Tax Credit claimants with three children or more who migrate from Tax Credits to Universal Credit will continue to receive additional support for the same number of children or qualifying young persons, so long as they make a new claim to Universal Credit within six months of leaving Tax Credits and remain responsible for the same children or qualifying young persons.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The main route to access Universal Credit is through digital channels. We actively encourage people to use the service in a digital manner in every instance but we understand there are circumstances in which this may not be possible. All jobcentres across the country have free Wi-Fi and there are more than 8,000 computers available to support customers who need help with making their claim digitally and applying for jobs online.</p><p> </p><p>This provides access to digital channels in every Jobcentre for claimants to use when they do not have access at home. A telephone helpline and face to face support are also available for claimants to make and manage a Universal Credit claim. Universal Support (US) is advice, assistance or support from Jobcentre Plus or local partners to help Universal Credit claimants with managing their claim or award of Universal Credit which includes accessing and using online services.</p><p> </p><p>The work coach will inform the claimant of their next appointment and contact details, in case of enquiry. Where needed the work coach will provide the claimant with a written note to remind them of the date of their next appointment, especially if the claimant has difficulty using or accessing online services.</p>

answer text <p>Advances are time sensitive because an advance payment meets the immediate need of the claimant. So there is no right of appeal to an independent tribunal against a refusal. We have an alternative process which enables a claimant to ask for a decision to be looked at again within the office, at pace.</p><p> </p><p>The most common grounds for a refusal of an advance payment are because the claimant already has available funds, for example: savings, earnings, redundancy payments or support from the claimant or partner’s parents, family or friends. answer text <p>We have in place a substantial programme of learning and ongoing support for work coaches to enable them to support all customers, whatever their needs. Work coaches receive a blend of face-to-face and online learning, which focuses on both the technical delivery steps and importantly the transformational change, as well as consolidation of training post-completion.</p><p> </p><p>Accreditation is also core to establishing our Work Coaches as an externally recognised professional workforce, and is central to our commitment to their continuous professional development. The learning and accreditation for Work Coaches reflects the critical role they play in the successful delivery of Universal Credit. However, we are not complacent and are investing in our people at all levels to give them the skills, knowledge and tools to deliver.</p><p> </p><p>The Universal Credit Full Service has a training feature that allows our staff to experience the system. Feedback from staff on the training has been positive, particularly the ability to experience the system before their jobcentre goes live with the full service.</p>
