answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/10/2024 answer text <p>As part of the get Britain working plan, more disabled people and those with health conditions will be supported to enter and stay in work, by devolving more power to local areas so they can shape a joined-up work, health, and skills offer that suits the needs of the people they serve. Forthcoming White Papers will develop policy in this area.</p><p>Good quality work is generally good for health and wellbeing, so we want everyone to get work and get on in work, whoever they are and wherever they live. We want people to avoid poverty, and for this to happen we must ensure that disabled people and people with health conditions have the opportunity to work and save for as long as they wish and are able to.</p><p> </p><p>Disabled people and people with health conditions are a diverse group who need access to the right work and health support, in the right place, at the right time. We have a range of specialist initiatives to support individuals to stay in work and get back into work, including disabled Universal Credit claimants. Measures include support from Work Coaches and Disability Employment Advisers in Jobcentres, Access to Work grants and the Work and Health Programme, as well as joining up health and employment support around the individual through Employment Advisors in NHS Talking Therapies and Individual Placement and Support in Primary Care.</p><p> </p><p>Employers play a key role in increasing employment opportunities and supporting disabled people and people with health conditions to thrive as part of the workforce. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/09/2024 answer text <p>For DWP customers in receipt of ESA, DWP has agreed to continue to pay customers their legacy benefit for a further two weeks from when their legacy benefit stops to support a seamless continuation of payments. All customers will automatically receive a two-week run on of those benefits.</p><p> </p><p>The DWP continues to learn and iterate its approach as we continue to move people to Universal Credit. We remain committed to ensuring that the transition to Universal Credit works as smoothly as possible for all customers, including the most vulnerable in society.</p><p> </p><p>In June we invited 500 ESA customers to claim Universal Credit. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/05/2024 answer text <p>Universal Credit provides more generous support for disabled people than it does for people in similar circumstances who are not disabled.</p><p> </p><p>Based on the outcome of a work capability assessment, it may be decided that a claimant has limited capability for work and work-related activity, and may be awarded an additional amount of benefit, currently £416.19 per calendar month from (2024/25 rates).</p><p> </p><p>Additionally, where it is decided that claimants have limited capability for work or limited capability for work and work-related activity, they are eligible for a work allowance.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has given a commitment that no eligible claimants who are invited to move to Universal Credit (UC), from legacy benefits, by the Department for Work and Pensions, and whose circumstances remain the same, will have a lower entitlement to UC than they had entitlement to their legacy benefits at the point of moving. Where necessary, eligible claimants will be awarded Transitional Protection (TP) in the form of a Transitional Element (TE) to ensure this commitment is met.</p><p> </p><p>Severe disability premium (SDP) transitional payments are available to claimants who became entitled to Universal Credit (UC) within a month of being entitled to severe disability premium (SDP) within a legacy benefit. In a case where the legacy benefit had terminated within that month the claimant must have continued to satisfy the eligibility conditions for SDP up to and including the first day of their UC award. The relevant legacy benefits are:</p><p> </p><ul><li>Income Support.</li><li>Jobseeker’s Allowance (income based).</li><li>Employment and Support Allowance (income related); or</li><li>Housing Benefit</li></ul><p> </p><p>New regulations came into force on 14<sup>th</sup> February 2024 and provide newly eligible claimants additional transitional protection where they are entitled to the transitional SDP element.</p><p>The claimants must also have been previously entitled to other disability premia in the month preceding their claim to UC, and continue to satisfy the eligibility conditions up to and including the first day of their UC award, to one or more of the following:</p><ul><li>Enhanced disability premium</li><li>Disability premium</li><li>disabled child premium or the disabled child element (in child tax credits) -and are now receiving the lower rate disabled child addition in Universal Credit.</li></ul> answering member constituency Bury St Edmunds answering member printed Jo Churchill question first answered 02/05/2024 16:48:38 answering member 4380 label Biography information for Jo Churchill
