answer text <p>Since leaving the EU, the Department for Business and Trade has secured free trade deals with 73 countries plus the EU, that accounted for £1.1 trillion of UK trade in 2022. The UK was the world’s 4th largest exporter in 2022.</p><p> </p><p>The UK’s total trade with the world (including goods and services) increased by £43.3bn (inflation adjusted) in 2023 compared to 2018, and our services exports to the world were at a record high in 2023, increasing by £48.9bn (inflation adjusted) compared to 2018.</p> more like this

answer text <p>As our largest trading partner, total trade with the EU was worth the equivalent of 30.4% of GDP in 2017. Within this, goods and services exports to the EU were 13.8% of GDP.</p><p> </p><p>Net trade in goods and services with the EU contributed 0.8 percentage points to GDP growth last year.</p><p> </p><p>However, this does not account for intermediate demand or the inputs of products, both domestic and imported, stemming from trade with the EU.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government wants to give UK companies the maximum freedom to trade with and operate in the Single Market – and let European businesses do the same here.</p><p>The Department for Exiting the European Union, working with officials across government, continues to undertake wide-ranging data analysis looking at over 50 sectors as well as cross-cutting regulatory issues. The Department is also engaging widely with representatives from sectors. This work will inform the UK's position for the upcoming negotiations with the EU.</p> more like this
