answer text
The UK remains concerned by the planned purchase of S-400 by Turkey and its implications for their continued participation in the F-35 programme. As the US administration has made clear, the purchase of S-400 generates unacceptable risks around F-35. We share this risk assessment and continue to call on Turkey to reconsider its planned purchase in light of those risks and the US offer of alternative solutions to legitimate Turkish air defence requirements.
more like this

answer text
We have repeatedly raised our concerns at Ministerial and official level about the proposed Turkish purchase of S-400 missiles. Turkey is a valued NATO ally, on the front line of some of the UK and the Alliance's most difficult security challenges. Defence equipment procurement decisions are for nations, but all NATO allies have committed to reducing their dependence on Russian-sourced legacy military equipment. The proposed purchase would pose real challenges for the interoperability of NATO systems.
more like this

answer text
Arms exports to Turkey, as to all other countries, are subject to export controls. Decisions are based on the most up-to-date information and analysis available, including reports from our overseas network and military contacts. Applications are considered on a case-by-case basis against the Consolidated EU and National Arms Export Licensing Criteria, known as the Consolidated Criteria. The Consolidated Criteria provide a thorough risk assessment framework and require us to consider the impact of providing equipment and its capabilities. We do not issue export licences where, for example, we assess there is a clear risk that the goods might be used for internal repression or used aggressively against another country. We keep our approach to all countries under continual review and continue to follow closely the latest developments in Afrin.
more like this
