answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/03/2024 answer text <p>The Chancellor and Chief Secretary hold regular discussions with Cabinet colleagues on spending priorities for fiscal events.</p><p>The government has now made available up to £8.6bn in additional funding over this financial year and next to support adult social care and discharge. This includes £500m announced in January which has specifically been made available to support local authorities with the cost of social care in 2024-25 in response to representations from local government stakeholders. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/11/2023 answer text <p>The Department of Health and Social Care carries out regular exercises to assess the financial pressures facing adult social care. These assessments account for a wide range of pressures, such as inflation, National Living Wage increases and demographic changes. The Department of Health and Social Care continuously works closely with local authorities and the adult social care sector to understand what the impact of cost and demand pressures will be on service delivery.</p><p>The Department of Health and Social Care’s assessment of financial pressures is shared with HM Treasury and the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, and used to inform decisions on the overall funding available to local government. Since the Spending Review the Government has made available up to £8.1 billion in additional funding over two years to support adult social care and discharge, including an additional £570 million announced in July 2023. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/01/2022 answer text <p>The 2022/23 provisional Local Government Finance Settlement makes available an additional £3.5 billion to councils. This is an increase in local authority funding for 2022/23 of over 4% in real terms, which will ensure councils across the country have the resources they need to deliver key services, including Adult and Children's Social Care.</p><p>Local authorities can make use of over £1 billion of additional resource specifically for social care in 2022/23. This includes:</p><ul><li>£636 million more into the Social Care Grant, including funding for equalisation against the 1% Adult Social Care precept;</li><li>£63 million into the improved Better Care Fund, providing an inflationary uplift to support integrated working with the NHS, and;</li><li>a 1% Adult Social Care precept and deferred flexibilities from last year's settlement.</li></ul><p>On top of this funding to address core pressures, £162 million in adult social care reform funding will be allocated in 2022/23 to support local authorities as they prepare their markets for adult social care reform and to help move towards paying a fair cost of care.</p> answering member constituency Harborough answering member printed Neil O'Brien grouped question UIN 111637 question first answered 28/01/2022 14:53:08 answering member 4679 label Biography information for Neil O'Brien

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/11/2021 answer text <p>At the Spending Review it was announced that Government is providing Local Government with £4.8bn of new grant over three years to meet core pressures in social care and other services. In addition to this, if local authorities were to use the full flexibility that we have assumed for the purposes of the Spending Review settlement, they are expected to have access to up to £1.7bn of additional funding over the Spending Review period for adult social care through the ability to increase the adult social care precept by up to 1% each year.</p><p> </p><p>In September the Prime Minister announced the package of reforms to adult social care – funded through the Health and Social Care Levy – which committed the Government to investing an additional £5.4bn in adult social care over the next three years. The Spending Review confirmed that £3.6bn of the £5.4bn will be available for local government to implement comprehensive funding reform of the adult social care system.
