These include the Government as a whole publishing 106 specific technical notices to help businesses prepare for March 2019 in the event of a ‘no deal’ scenario, and HMRC publishing a ‘Partnership Pack’ and sending letters to 145,000 traders setting out some actions businesses should take now to prepare for changes at the border in a ‘no deal’ scenario. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/08/2017 answer text <p>As set out in my responses to PQ <a href="http://www.parliament.uk/business/publications/written-questions-answers-statements/written-question/Commons/2017-06-21/411/" target="_blank">411</a> and PQ <a href="http://www.parliament.uk/business/publications/written-questions-answers-statements/written-question/Commons/2017-07-03/2586/" target="_blank">2586</a> the UK and Scottish Governments have been in discussion at both ministerial and official levels.</p><p> </p><p>Business support in Scotland is largely devolved however, the department engages with all the devolved regions on a number of initiatives aimed at supporting small businesses. Government programmes, backed by the British Business Bank (BBB), the Enterprise Finance Guarantee Scheme (EFGS) and Innovate UK are investing over £700m to support around 4,500 Scottish companies including: -</p><p> </p><ul><li>BBB programmes are currently facilitating approximately £405m of finance in Scotland.</li><li>Over 2,600 loans totalling over £15m via the Start-Up Loans programme. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/07/2017 answer text <p>Support for businesses in Scotland is largely a devolved matter, and <a href="https://www.mygov.scot/business/" target="_blank">https://www.mygov.scot/business/</a> provides advice to people starting, running and growing a business, including a section on funding and grants in Scotland. In addition, British Business Bank (BBB) programmes are supporting finance to smaller businesses. As at end of December 2016, BBB programmes were supporting over £1.4m* to small businesses in East Renfrewshire. This includes 33 start-up loans totalling over £170,000.</p><p>Alongside designing and delivering programmes through its partners, the British Business Bank works to promote the provision of better information in the market to increase smaller businesses’ understanding of the finance options available to them. The Business Finance Guide (<a href="http://www.thebusinessfinanceguide.co.uk/bbb" target="_blank">http://www.thebusinessfinanceguide.co.uk/bbb</a> ) sets out the different sources of finance available to businesses – from start-ups to SMEs and growing mid-sized companies.</p><p>In order to support innovation by small businesses, Innovate UK awarded 99 projects to SMEs in Scotland with a commitment of £16.7 million in 2016/17.</p><p>Small businesses in Scotland also benefit from UK-wide initiatives to encourage investment, for example the Enterprise Investment Scheme and the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/06/2017 answer text <p>Small businesses play a central role in driving economic growth across the UK and this Government is committed to supporting their continued success.</p><p> </p><p>The industrial strategy will build on this to make the most of the diverse strengths of all of Britain’s cities and regions including Scotland, and grasp the opportunities that could drive faster growth in each of them.</p><p> </p><p>Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness City Deals have seen £702m of additional funding from the UK government flow into Scotland. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/09/2014 answer text <p>The government is committed to supporting small businesses across the UK, and has recently taken a number of measures to support Scotland’s 326,000 SMEs.</p><p> </p><p>In February 2014, the Start Up Loans programme went live in Scotland, and has already supported 500 Scottish entrepreneurs to start their own business with £1.6m of loans.</p><p> </p><p>In April 2014, the Government launched the Employment Allowance to allow businesses and charities throughout the UK to deduct up to £2,000 off their employer National Insurance contributions (NICs) bill each year. By June 2014, 57,000 Scottish SMEs had benefitted from this scheme. Also in April 2014, the government increased the rate of the credit payable to loss-making SMEs investing in research and development from 11% to 14.5% and doubled the Annual Investment Allowance to £500,000 until 2016 to support business investment.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Government has also launched new tax reliefs for the production of high-end television, animation, video games and theatre and introduced the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme to support small early stage companies seeking equity investment.</p> answering member constituency South West Hertfordshire answering member printed Mr David Gauke question first answered 23/09/2014 10:39:55 answering member 1529 label Biography information for Mr David Gauke
