answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/06/2019 answer text <p>On 11 June 2019, the Prime Minister announced at the International Labour Organisation (ILO) centenary that the Government is looking at ways of strengthening and improving the transparency statements required of big businesses and expanding the law to cover the public sector. The Home Office will launch a public consultation ahead of potential changes to section 54 (transparency in supply chains requirements) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/07/2019 answer text <p>The Home Office has written twice to approximately 17,000 organisations identified as being required to prepare a Modern Slavery Statement under Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. As a result almost 4,000 organisations have registered to receive tools and guidance from the Home Office to support effective reporting under the Act.</p><p>The Home Office is commencing an audit of compliance and organisations which persist in flouting their obligations risk being publicly named. This was sent to the Rt Honourable member in his capacity as Chair of Work and Pensions Select Committee.</p><p>As set out in that letter, 1,043 people were confirmed as victims of modern slavery in 2015. Of these individuals, 379 had applied for asylum at the time the information was collected and 216 had been granted asylum. This is delivered through a network of support providers throughout England and Wales.</p><p>Whilst we consider the implication of the Court of Appeal judgment in the case of (PK (Ghana) v SSHD), interim guidance has been issued to caseworkers to put on hold any refusals of discretionary leave to remain (DL) decisions for confirmed victims of modern slavery.</p><p>Grants of discretionary leave are continuing.
