answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/04/2018 answer text <p>This information is held by the Ministry of Justice, which holds primary responsibility for funding of victim support services.</p><p>The Government has made a commitment under the Ending Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy 2016-2020 to ensure funding for rape support services is maintained throughout the Spending Review period. We continue to meet that commitment.</p><p>In 2016/17 and 2017/18 the MoJ protected funding of over £6.2million to 85 female Rape Support Centres across England and Wales to provide independent, specialist support to female victims of rape and sexual violence. In addition, the MoJ has provided an uplift of £1.71m to these centres as a consequence of the increased demand from adult victims of historic sexual abuse.</p><p>In Northumbria, the MoJ is providing £265,870 (including £60,000 uplift to support victims of child sexual abuse) to four rape support centres. We have protected the same level of funding for 2018/19.</p><p>In each of the last three years, Government has provided £7million funding for non-statutory organisations supporting victims and survivors of sexual violence, including child sexual abuse and exploitation. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/03/2018 answer text <p>Government is committed to ensuring that victims of crime have access to the support services they need to help them cope with and, as far as possible, recover from the effects.</p><p>This year, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) is providing £12.5m funding for services for victims and survivors of sexual violence. This includes £7m funding for victims of child sexual abuse (CSA). In Northumbria, MoJ is providing £265,870 (including £60,000 CSA uplift) to four rape support centres, and a further £116,423 has been delegated to the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) to spend on service for victims of child sexual abuse (CSA).</p><p>Overall, MoJ is spending £96m this year to fund support services for victims of crime. Around £68m of this has been allocated to PCCs to locally commission or provide support services for victims of crime. This included £7.5m for a new, ground-breaking Centre of Expertise that will identify, generate, and share high quality evidence of what works to prevent and tackle child sexual abuse and exploitation.</p><p> </p><p>The Sexual Offences Act 2003 contains a wide range of offences designed to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation and provides robust sentences that reflect the seriousness of this offending. We keep these areas of the criminal law under review to ensure it is fully equipped to deal with the scourge of sexual offending against children and young people. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/03/2018 answer text <p>On 23 February 2018, Newcastle Safeguarding Children Board and Newcastle Safeguarding Adults Board published their joint serious case review (SCR) for Operation Sanctuary.</p><p> </p><p>Specifically, CPS North East is working closely with Newcastle Crown Court and other partners within the Criminal Justice System to improve the experience of victims and witnesses when attending court and to ensure that the commitments to witness care set out in the Victim’s Code and the Witness Charter are properly delivered.</p><p> </p><p>Child sexual exploitation is abhorrent and the crimes perpetrated in Newcastle have had a devastating impact on the lives of the victims.
