answer text <p>As part of preparing for the UK’s departure from the EU, the Treasury has allocated £2bn of funding for departments in 2019-20. Details of the figures allocated to individual department were announced in the Written Statement on 18<sup>th</sup> December 2018 (HCWS1205). As ever, the Treasury continually engages with departments on spending pressures. These allocations are reflective of departmental need in various EU Exit scenarios.</p><p> </p><p>HM Treasury does not publish bids received from departments for public spending.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The independent Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) produces budget forecasts independently of Ministers, doing so objectively, transparently and impartially, as required by law. Since Autumn Statement 2016 the OBR have continued to forecast contributions past the point of exit as if the UK were a member state, assuming any reduction in EU contributions is recycled into spending elsewhere. Annex B of the OBR’s March Economic and Fiscal Outlook estimates the size of our financial settlement with the EU and an illustrative profile for future years.</p> more like this

answer text <p>As announced in the joint report from the negotiators of the European Union and the United Kingdom Government on 8 December 2017, data for the calculation of UK payments will be drawn up from publicly available sources where possible, and audited by the European Court of Auditors – the independent body responsible for auditing the EU’s expenditure, revenue and accounts.</p><p>Further information necessary for the calculation of the UK’s share of Union obligations will be transmitted to the UK. The Union will provide the UK with the management and accounting information necessary to verify the components of the financial settlement in a timely manner. As it does today, the UK Government will closely examine all information relating to any payments to the EU.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The government’s distributional analysis at Budget shows the proportion of tax paid and public services spending received by households. It shows that the richest fifth of households will be paying a greater proportion of taxes in 2019-20 than in the 2010-11 system as a result of government policy, while half of all spending on welfare and public services is still going to the poorest 40% of households.</p><p> </p><p>In contrast with the government’s approach, the analysis produced by the Women’s Budget Group focuses on immediate cash impacts and assumes that extra government borrowing can make everyone better off. This ignores the fact that borrowing needs to be paid for and harms our long term economic security.</p> more like this
