answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/07/2019 answer text <p>Currently, UK professionals benefit from automatic recognition of their professional qualifications by EU member states for seven professions: nurses, midwives, doctors, dentists, pharmacists, architects and veterinary surgeons. All other qualifications are only recognised if they are deemed to be of an equivalent standard to the EU Member State’s own standards. If the UK leaves the EU without a deal, UK nationals will no longer have access to the EU’s reciprocal system of automatic professional qualification recognition.</p><p>UK nationals seeking recognition to practice regulated professions in the EU after a no deal exit would have to check the national policies and rules of the relevant Member State in which they intend to practice. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/02/2019 answer text <p>In the event that the UK leaves the EU with no deal, professionals from the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland who have had their qualifications formally recognised in the UK before exit will continue to be able to rely on those recognition decisions to practice their profession in the UK. Similarly, recognition decisions for UK professional qualifications awarded in the EEA and Switzerland before exit will remain valid.</p><p> </p><p>In the event that the UK leaves the EU with no deal, new applications for recognition of EEA and Swiss qualifications in the UK made after exit could be recognised if the qualifications are of an equivalent standard to UK qualifications in scope, content and level. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/02/2019 answer text <p>Under the terms of the Withdrawal Agreement, the current arrangements between the UK and the EU on the mutual recognition of professional qualifications will continue to apply during the implementation period.</p><p> </p><p>UK nationals and EU citizens who have obtained - or applied for - a recognition decision before the end of the implementation period will continue to be able to rely on those recognition decisions - or have those applications completed - after the implementation period. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/02/2019 answer text <p>The Department has laid draft legislation before Parliament (the draft Recognition of Professional Qualifications (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019) to ensure that in the event of the UK exiting the EU without a withdrawal agreement, the system for the recognition of EEA and Swiss professional qualifications in the UK will continue to function effectively; and that existing recognition decisions for EEA and Swiss professionals within scope of this legislation (approximately 38,000 decisions) will remain valid. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/06/2018 answer text <p>As part of the Withdrawal Agreement, we have agreed the continued recognition of qualifications for residents and frontier workers, where recognition decisions were received or where recognition procedures were ongoing, before the end of the implementation period. This will cover qualifications recognised under the MRPQ directive, lawyers practising under host title and approved statutory auditors.</p><p> </p><p>There are a number of issues which the Commission deemed to be outside the scope of withdrawal negotiations, including important rights such as home title practise for lawyers and the status of licenses and certificates. We will seek to reach an agreement with the EU that will cover these outstanding issues in the negotiations on the future economic partnership.</p><p> </p><p>The Prime Minister has been clear that we want UK professional qualifications to continue to be recognised across the EU in the future, and vice versa. This makes sense, given that they are already recognised. The March European Council agreed guidelines for negotiations on our future relationship, which reference the desire of the EU27 to include ambitious provisions on the recognition of qualifications. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/03/2018 answer text <p>As the Prime Minister set out in her Mansion House speech, the UK is committed to a continued system for the mutual recognition of professional qualifications as part of a bold and ambitious future economic partnership.</p><p> </p><p>In December, the UK Government agreed in the Joint Report with the EU the continued recognition of qualifications for frontier workers and residents, where recognition decisions were received or where recognition procedures were ongoing, before the withdrawal date. This will include qualifications recognised under the MRPQ Directive (Directive 2005/36/EC), as well as lawyers practising under host title and approved statutory auditors, which are currently covered separately in EU legislation.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is firmly committed to the agreement in December and we are working with the Commission to agree how they should be translated into legal form in the Withdrawal Agreement.
