<p>It is not possible to identify pupils entered for Mandarin Chinese from the Department
for Education’s data. However, the Department does hold information on the number
of entries into GCSE Chinese which includes Mandarin Chinese and other Chinese subjects.
In the academic year 2010/11, there were 2,480 entries for GCSE Mandarin, 2,307 in
the academic year 2011/12 and 2,346 in the academic year 2012/13. This information
