answer text <p>The decision was taken based on the assessment of Expression of Interest applications against the six published selection criteria (alignment to levelling up principles; connected and easy to get to; opportunities for GBR; value for money; railway heritage and links to the network; and public support) and the result of the public vote. answer text <p>In order to determine the best location for the Great British Railways Headquarters (GBR HQ), the Great British Railways Transition Team (GBRTT) was tasked with overseeing the process to select a national headquarters for Great British Railways.</p><p> </p><p>GBRTT assessed the applications using six published criteria:</p><p /><ol><li>Alignment to Levelling Up objectives</li><li>Connected and easy to get to</li><li>Opportunities for GBR</li><li>Railway heritage and links to the network</li><li>Value for money</li><li>Public support, which included a public vote on the short-listed candidates.</li></ol><p> </p><p>An announcement on the final location of the GBR HQ will be made before the Easter break.</p><p> </p> more like this

Birmingham, Crewe, Derby, Doncaster, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and York will compete for the honour of being crowned the home of Britain’s railways, following an expressions of interest stage that drew applications from 42 towns and cities across Great Britain.</p><p> </p><p>A consultative public vote will run for six weeks until 15 August and a decision on the final location will be made later this year.</p> more like this
