answer text <p>The Government allocates a yearly budget to the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) to enable it to undertake its regulatory and enforcement activities. The GLAA’s remit was expanded in 2016. Since then, the Government has increased the annual funding it provides the GLAA from £1.97m in 2015/16 to £7.77m in 2023/24.</p> more like this

answer text <p>As we replace freedom of movement with the Points-Based System, we remain committed to preventing any abuse of the system, including by protecting individuals from modern slavery and exploitation by criminal traffickers and unscrupulous employers.</p><p>The Government spends £33m a year on state enforcement of employment rights to support the work of the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA), HMRC’s National Minimum Wage Team and the Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate. GLAA resources for 2021/2022 have not yet been agreed.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Funding for the GLAA was increased in 2016/17 and 2017/18 to reflect its wider remit and has been maintained at that level into 2019/20. Funding for future years will be decided as part of the spending review.</p><p>It is for the GLAA to determine how best to allocate its resources in the light of the intelligence available to it.</p> more like this
