answer text <p>The UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) allows EU hauliers to continue to operate to, from, through and within the UK without the need for permits. The TCA ensures that the vast majority of journeys will continue as they did before the end of the transition period.</p><p>The Department for Transport continues to have regular discussions with colleagues across Whitehall on this issue, and is working closely with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport through their Touring Working Group. The Department also continues engage directly with the road haulage sector to help them adapt to the new rules under the TCA.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>Under the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) between the UK and the EU, UK hauliers can continue to undertake unrestricted bilateral journeys to and from the EU, and transit journeys to a non-EU country. The TCA also allows UK hauliers to undertake up to 2 additional laden journeys within the EU after a laden international journey from the UK (either cabotage or cross-trade, with a maximum of one cabotage movement – i.e. two cross-trade, or one cabotage and one cross-trade).</p><p> </p><p>The Department for Transport’s assessment is that the TCA will allow for the vast majority of UK haulage operations to and from the EU to continue exactly as they did before the end of the transition period.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>Our assessment is that the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) will allow for the majority of haulage operations that were being undertaken by UK hauliers before the end of the transition period.  However, UK operators will not be allowed to undertake more than 2 movements within the EU before returning to the UK.  These rules will also apply to specialist hauliers, such as hauliers who carry equipment for musicians and other performers.</p><p> </p><p>Alternative arrangements for specialist hauliers were discussed in detail as part of negotiations, including specific proposals for liberalised access, but the EU was unwilling to agree more flexible arrangements. Unfortunately, we are not able to release the content of correspondence and records pertaining to the negotiation. These texts are confidential, and it is therefore not appropriate for them to be published.</p><p /><p>The Department for Transport is in regular contact with the road haulage industry and is working closely with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media &amp; Sport and the Department for Business, Energy &amp; Industrial Strategy to support the creative industries sector.</p>
