answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/11/2014 answer text <p>Going into this winter every community that was affected by the storms and floods of last winter will have the same or better standard of protection as they had before last winter.</p><p>Following the tidal surge on 5 December 2013 and the winter storms, a total of 890 recovery projects were identified across England; of these, 844 projects involved the repair of flood defence assets. The remaining 46 involve surveys, studies or actions relating to incident response.</p><p>By 31 October 2014, permanent repairs had been completed for 802 (95%) of the 844 defence projects. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/11/2014 answer text <p>The Government-funded New Dimension project saw the deployment of 50 High Volume Pumps (HVP) positioned across the country, with 46 allocated to 38 English Fire and Rescue Services and four in Scotland; an additional Strategic HVP was located centrally. There are four mobile HVPs in Wales. Under the Fire Rescue Service mutual aid arrangements Wales also have access to all of the strategic assets in England. The planning assumptions for a major incident involving man made or natural flooding, assumes a minimum of one HVP will be mobilised to respond to an incident within a maximum of two hours of request.</p><p> </p><p>The Environment Agency holds a range of strategic incident response supplies at its depots across England, including:</p><p> </p><p>· three 12 inch pumps</p><p> </p><p>· six24 inch pumps</p><p> </p><p>· 425 smaller mobile pumps</p><p> </p><p>· 3.8km of demountable and temporary flood defences</p><p> </p><p>· 21 sandbag machines</p><p> </p><p>The larger 12 and 24 inch pumps can be deployed within 24 hours. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/07/2014 answer text <p> </p><p>We will be spending more than £3.2 billion over thecourse of this parliament on flood and erosion risk management (between 2010/11 to 2014/15). Going forward, we have also made an unprecedented long-term 6-year commitment to record levels of capital investment in improving defences right up to 2021. By the end of the decade, we will have provided a better level of protection to at least 465,000 households.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In response to the exceptional events of the winter, Defra has made an extra £270 million available to repair, restore and maintain critical defences. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/06/2014 answer text <p> </p><p>Defra regularly receives representation from those seeking Government funding for flood and coastal risk management schemes to be more focussed on delivering a particular type of outcome such as improved protection for homes, agricultural areas or infrastructure at risk of flooding. These representations are not in a consistent direction.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>A recent external evaluation found that, on the whole, the current partnership funding approach is progressing well in meeting its policy objectives and that the funding formula should not be changed at present.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Our focus is on working with Risk Management Authorities and local communities to put together a six-year investment programme on the basis of the current funding formula, for announcement this autumn.
