The Government has not made, and has no plans to make, an assessment of the effectiveness of provisions in the Suicide Act 1961. The Government’s view remains that if there is a requirement for any change to the law in this area it must be for individual Parliamentarians to consider as an issue of conscience, rather than a decision for Government.
