These officers receive expert advice and guidance through a central support body and can access extensive information via a regularly updated online EV knowledge repository. It will enable electric vehicle drivers to sell electricity back to the grid, as well as power their homes or business. This can save money for electric vehicle drivers and will contribute to delivering this Government’s clean energy superpower mission.</p><p> </p><p>Whilst Government does not currently hold data on the total number of bidirectional chargers installed, over 650 were installed in homes and workplaces across the UK as part of the UK vehicle to grid innovation programme which ran from 2017 to 2022. The number of future public chargers required in a local area is dependent on a number of factors, such as electric vehicle (EV) uptake, levels of off-street parking and types of charging option. Local authorities play a key role in ensuring an area has a clear EV charging strategy.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is supporting local authorities through the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Fund. Through the fund, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, which includes Huntingdon, has been allocated £5,437,000 capital funding to transform the availability of charging for drivers without off-street parking. It has estimated a resulting total consumer saving of £4 billion up to 2040. We are aware that the reforms are causing particular concern for a small number of sites, including public electric vehicle charge point operators. Ofgem will be undertaking a broad review of system costs and will consider whether other cost recovery options provide potential for improvements. Ofgem regulates standing charges, as they do with other elements of billing. The Government is pleased that Ofgem is considering the issue of standing charges through their recent Call for Input and industry led working groups. Solutions would be implemented across electric vehicle (EV) charging sites, including those situated in rural areas. <br> <br>Our £381 million Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Fund aims to address regional charging inequality and transform the availability of EV charging for drivers. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/09/2024 answer text <p>The Government wants everyone to be able to make the switch to electric vehicles, which is why we strongly encourage chargepoint procurers and operators to adopt the British Standards Institution Publicly Available Specification (PAS) 1899:2022 standard. This was sponsored by the Government and Motability, providing specifications on designing and installing accessible public electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is actively encouraging relevant parties to adopt its specifications, building on improvements already being made in the sector. It is also encouraging local authorities to incorporate accessibility into their procurement models.</p><p> </p><p>The Government and Motability Foundation is working with advocacy groups, industry and other stakeholders to review the effectiveness and implementation of PAS 1899. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/09/2024 answer text <p>There are now over 960 open-access (can be used with any electric vehicle) rapid (50kW) and ultra-rapid (150kW+) chargepoints at motorway service areas across England.</p><p> </p><p>The Rapid Charging Fund pilot will fund a portion of the cost of upgrading electrical capacity at motorway service areas, where it is not commercially viable for industry to do so. This will support the rollout of ultra-rapid (150kW+) chargepoints.</p><p> </p><p>Government is also collaborating with National Highways on the Energy Storage Systems project. This project is focusing on motorway service areas where the current electrical capacity is limited.
