As the recent IPCC report has made clear, climate change is one of the biggest
global threats to sustained development and our own way of life. This is why the UK
is taking a leading role in tackling climate change and protecting the world’s natural
resources.

The UK has committed to £5.8bn of climate finance from 2016/17
– 2020/21. This includes specific assistance to help people and communities to be
more resilient to climate change. For example, under our Building Resilience and Adaptation
to Climate Extremes and Disasters programme, we are helping farmers in Burkina Faso
prepare for heavy rains and high temperatures, which will help improve household food
security and livelihoods. Since 2011, UK climate investments have supported 47 million
people to cope with the effects of climate change and provided 17 million people with
improved access to clean energy. More detail of our results is available on GOV.UK.
