answer text <p>The UK Government unreservedly condemns the use of torture. The UK does not participate in, solicit, encourage or condone the use of torture for any purpose. We take allegations or concerns of torture and mistreatment very seriously and will follow up with action, as appropriate.</p><p>We urge all allegations of torture or mistreatment to be reported to the appropriate national oversight body whose duty it is to carry out full and independent investigations. We continue to encourage the oversight bodies to carry out swift and thorough investigations into any such claims.</p> more like this

The UK does not participate in, solicit, encourage or condone the use of torture for any purpose.</p><p>We believe that consistent, positive steps are being made on security and justice reform in Bahrain. Continued progress is in the interest of Bahrain, the UK and the international community. While we recognise that challenges remain, we are clear that stepping back from our engagement would not help to achieve this. Working in cooperation with the UNDP in Bahrain, we plan to continue our support through the Gulf Strategy Fund to strengthen Bahrain's human rights oversight institutions.</p> more like this

When making assessments, published in our annual human rights report, we take note of a number of sources of information and continue to monitor closely developments on all matters that relate to human rights within the country. answer text <p>We encourage the Government of Bahrain to deliver on its international and domestic human rights commitments. When we had concerns about allegations of torture or mistreatment, we have raised our concerns with the Government of Bahrain. We encourage those with concerns about treatment in detention to report these to the relevant human rights oversight bodies, and we encourage swift, transparent conclusions to any investigations.</p><p>The UK's support to Bahrain's reform programme includes strengthening independent oversight bodies such as the Ministry of Interior Ombudsman and the Prisoners and Detainees Rights Commission which provide oversight of police conduct and detention standards. The British Government unreservedly condemns torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment. It is a government priority to combat it whever it occurs.</p> more like this
