<p>Home Office policy is not to provide asylum seekers with publicly funded English
for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses. They may access courses on a fee-paying
basis. Asylum claimants awaiting a decision for over six months are eligible for a
50% contribution to the cost of ESOL courses through the Adult Education Budget. We
also know that many ESOL providers use their discretion to set lower fees.</p><p>Those
granted refugee status by the Home Office and in receipt of certain work-related benefits
are eligible for fully funded ESOL courses.</p><p>We encourage asylum claimants (adults
