<p>The category of “non-binary” was added to the search function on the Parliamentary website in December 2019. The request arose from analysis of candidates standing for election to the House of Commons in the General Election of that month, and then agreed on a bicameral basis. The addition of a non-binary option to the underlying bicameral Members database meant that the option became available as a search option on the webpages of both Houses.</p>
