To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what steps he is taking to ensure that (a) existing jetties on the River Thames are (i) protected and (ii) retained and (b) new jetties are developed to ensure that goods, construction materials, and waste can be put on and taken off the river.

<p>The safeguarding of wharves and jetties on the Thames is the responsibility of the Mayor of London, and the Thames in London is managed by the Port of London Authority. It would be a matter for the Mayor to determine what types of river boat services might operate on the River Thames.</p>
