Currently the most important drivers of change in the cost of food are commodity prices, exchange rates and oil prices. These will continue to apply when we leave the EU. Economic models attempt to predict the impact of food prices of changes in our trading relationships with the EU and the rest of the world. Defra economists continue to monitor this work.
