Requests for assistance with family tracing from UK residents are directed to the
British Red Cross which provides a family tracing service to restore family links
between family members separated as a result of war and conflict, natural or man-made
disasters, or migration. All asylum seekers are also notified of this service when
they claim asylum. In addition, when it is deemed to be in a child’s best interests,
the UK government endeavours to trace the families of unaccompanied asylum seeking
children.
