answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/07/2019 answer text <p>The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) and the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) have both confirmed that the driver operating the doors is a safe method of working. It is vital that train operators have policies in place so that passengers with disabilities are able to travel with confidence. ORR is the organisation which is responsible for the approval and monitoring of operators’ Disabled People’s Protection Policies (DPPP). Following the introduction of driver-controlled operation on Southern, ORR carried out a period of enhanced monitoring to ensure that policies were in place on Southern so that disabled passengers, regardless of whether they had pre-booked assistance or chose to travel spontaneously, and regardless of whether they were travelling to a staffed or unstaffed station, were able to complete their journey. ORR concluded that GTR had provided assurance that it has the systems and processes in place for this purpose. Train Operating Companies each contribute a share of the overall costs of policing the railway network through a Police Service Agreement (PSA) with BTP. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/07/2019 answer text <p>The Home Office is unable to report on how many applications for asylum from Chinese Uighurs it has received since 2015; and what proportion of those applications have been successful, as to obtain this information would require a manual trawl of records and could only be obtained at disproportionate cost. We do, however, publish data on those who have been granted asylum in the UK, with main applicants broken down by country of nationality. The latest release, published 24th May 2019, can be found in tab as_01 at volume 1 of the quarterly Immigration Statistics release:<br><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/immigration-statistics-year-ending-march-2019/list-of-tables#asylum" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/immigration-statistics-year-ending-march-2019/list-of-tables#asylum</a></p><p>The UK has a proud history of providing protection to those who need it, in accordance with our international obligations under the Refugee Convention and European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). <br>Where someone establishes a well-founded fear of persecution or serious harm in their country they are normally granted protection and are not expected to return there.</p><p>Our assessment of the situation for Uighurs in China is set out in the relevant country policy and information note, which is available on the Gov.uk website</p><p>All asylum and human rights claims from Chinese nationals are carefully considered on their individual merits in accordance with our international obligations. Staff can still make arrangements to contribute to a credit union via direct debit.</p><p> </p><p>The Department is aware that other public sector organisations offer this facility.
