answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/07/2019 answer text <p>Leaving the EU with a deal remains our priority, but as a responsible Government we've been preparing for nearly three years to minimise disruption in the event of no deal.</p><p>We have over 300 work streams looking at specific no deal plans across a range of sectors and these are well advanced. There is still some work to be done but departments are making sensible decisions about prioritisation.</p><p>Departments report progress delivering each workstream on a regular basis. DExEU aggregates the cross-Government picture of readiness and provides regular updates to Ministers. This allows for the swift resolution of barriers to improve the Government’s overall preparedness for exit.</p><p>As you might expect, these aggregate assessments of Government preparedness are exceptionally sensitive. Friend the Minister of State for Energy and Clean Growth (Claire Perry) wrote to heat network suppliers in April 2019, reaffirming our intention to regulate the heat network sector in light of recommendations from the Competition and Markets Authority. In her letter, she encouraged all owners or operators of heat networks not currently signed up to the voluntary Heat Trust to do so in order to improve their consumers’ experiences and build on existing good practice ahead of regulation. She also asked them to consider the role the Energy Ombudsman may provide in addressing disputes between consumers and companies. Discharges from these works occur on a daily basis and are permitted by the Environment Agency. Additionally, during wet weather there may be discharges from storm overflows.</p><p> </p><p>Reports of both the volume of discharges from sewage treatment works and spill numbers from storm overflows in England are submitted to the Environment Agency on an annual basis as per the requirements in the permits. There is no routine requirement to provide reports at three or six monthly intervals.</p><p> </p><p>While no data is available specifically for the last three or six months, based on the latest reported data for 2018 the daily average volume of treated sewage discharge from sewage treatment works was 17.5 billion litres per day. Spill data was also reported for 6,182 storm overflows in England with a total of 146,930 spill events during 2018.</p><p> </p><p>There is currently a programme to install monitoring on the vast majority of overflows in England by 2020.
