answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/07/2019 answer text <p>Defra is investigating the environmental effects of deep-sea mining through the Deep-sea Mining Cross Government Working Group, which includes Cefas, the Joint Nature Conservation Committee, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The working group is supported by input from the National Oceanography Centre, Natural History Museum and British Geological Survey. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/07/2019 answer text <p>I share the hon Gentleman’s concerns about the reports of poor conditions and overcrowding in US detention facilities on the border with Mexico.</p><p>I very much welcome the steps already taken by the Administration and Congress to address these issues, including the emergency funding signed off by the President on 1 July.</p><p>These are difficult issues, and the UK has also struggled sometimes to get this right.</p><p>But we very much encourage our US friends to continue to work to improve the conditions in these facilities.</p><p>I have seen the excellent work the US has done around the world to promote human rights, and so it is important that they uphold these standards as they continue to tackle the situation at the US-Mexico border.</p> answering member constituency Penrith and The Border answering member printed Rory Stewart question first answered 17/07/2019 16:19:24 answering member 4137 label Biography information for Rory Stewart

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/07/2019 answer text <p>The UK is committed to supporting entrepreneurship in Africa to grow local economies, create jobs, reduce poverty and support sustainable development. Last summer, the PM announced that CDC Group, the UK’s Development Finance Institution, would invest up to £3.5 billion in businesses in Africa over four years (2018 to 2021). CDC has already committed £1.9bn in Africa over the last 3 years (2016-2018). CDC is invested in 698 different companies in Africa, directly supporting 370,000 jobs.</p><p>Through CDC and other country specific initiatives, we will mobilise a further £4 billion of private investment for Africa.
