<p>Bereavement services are provided in a number of ways across the National Health
Service, social care and the voluntary sector.</p><p>Clinical commissioning groups
commission and enable access to bereavement services locally as part of high quality,
compassionate and person-centred care. For instance, anyone who feels that they need
support following the death of someone they know, can either self-refer, or be referred,
to an Improving Access to Psychological Therapies service for a clinical assessment
of their needs. If appropriate, treatment should be offered in line with National
Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidance.</p><p>To support commissioners,
the Government is working with NHS England and the voluntary sector to identify exemplar
bereavement care pathways.</p>
