<p>The number of cases listed for trial at Bradford Crown Court has remained relatively
static over the last five years. However, the number of more serious cases received
by Bradford Crown Court in the same period have increased. These types of cases, by
the very nature of their seriousness, generally take more court time to deal with.</p><p>
</p><p>In the last five years Bradford has also seen a substantial increase in the
number of appeals that it receives, as Bradford Magistrates’ Court deals with all
the road traffic work from across West Yorkshire and therefore any appeals that arise
from those cases go through Bradford Crown Court.</p><p> </p><p>In order to reduce
the delays, work is being done in liaison with partner agencies to review trial cases
at an early stage and floating trials are being monitored to ensure all action is
being taken to start the trial on the day. Workload and sitting days continue to be
closely monitored.</p>
