The British High Commission recently met the Vice Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities in July to discuss minority rights.</p><p><del class="ministerial">We also support local NGOs to deliver projects to promote minority rights. In 2015, we funded a project that trained 500 tribal men and women on women’s rights and access to justice. During 2016-2018, we provided legal training for 2,000 Dalit women to combat violence against them, and helped create a network of Dalit Women Human Rights Defenders in four states. We are committed to giving police the resources, tools and powers they need to tackle the scourge of crime.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">The Home Office does not hold figures for the number of police officer vacancies advertised prior to 23 July 2019.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) had previously announced plans to recruit 3000 additional officers in 2019/20. The recruitment of 20,000 officers announced by the Government is in addition to these numbers already announced by PCCs.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Prime Minister and Home Secretary have announced the recruitment of 20,000 extra officers over the next three years. This demonstrates our commitment to support the police and give them extra resource to protect the public and keep us all safe. </ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The allocation of officers across England and Wales is yet to be confirmed. We are working closely with police leaders to put in place the plans and systems to deliver on our commitment. These groups included EU citizens, Hindus, Christians, and the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community, as well as Sikhs</p><p>In February, my Department organised a hate crime workshop for representatives from the Sikh community with contributions from across government, the police and criminal justice system. Outcomes included further engagement between the Sikh community and organisations including the NPCC, Crown Prosecution Service, Metropolitan Police and Department for Education</p><p>My Department and the NPCC continue to work with the Sikh community and other groups who are less likely to report to raise awareness of hate crime and encourage reporting. These groups included EU citizens and faith groups. Home Office data from 2017/18 shows that 52 per cent of religiously motivated hate crime was perpetrated against Muslims. In addition to the NPCC funding, the government is providing over £2.5 million to Tell MAMA, a hate crime reporting and victim support organisation. Whilst Tell MAMA predominantly supports Muslims or those targeted for being perceived to be Muslim, for example Sikhs, all communities are able to report hate crimes to Tell MAMA. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/09/2019 answer text <p>The Electoral Commission undertakes periodic research into the accuracy and completeness of the electoral registers in the UK. Information is collected from a sample of households, and details of residents are then matched against actual register entries to generate the estimates of accuracy and completeness.</p><p>The last study assessed the December 2015 registers and was published in 2016. The Commission found that:</p><ul><li>In Great Britain, the local government registers were 84% complete, meaning that 16% of eligible electors did not have a correct register entry.</li><li>In Northern Ireland, the local government register were 79% complete, meaning that 21% of eligible electors did not have a correct register entry.</li></ul><p>By applying these estimates to Office for National Statistics data, the Commission calculated that:</p><ul><li>In Great Britain, between 7.8 and 8.5 million eligible people were not correctly registered.</li><li>In Northern Ireland, between 275,000 and 330,000 eligible people were not correctly registered.</li></ul><p>This does not mean that these people were entirely missing from the registers; many will have had an entry at a previous address. This subgroup includes membership from a national organisation for sex workers (National Ugly Mugs). The Sophia Forum, who are also members of the subgroup, have recently updated a women and PrEP information leaflet with input from sex workers to ensure the content is acceptable and relevant. The subgroup is also developing a questionnaire to use with women attending sexual health clinics in order to increase knowledge and awareness among women and to aid discussions about PrEP with health workers.</p><p>Since the start of the PrEP Impact Trial in October 2017, over half of the available 26,000 trial places have been filled. As of 3 September 2019, all participating Trial clinics were open to recruitment for women, trans men and heterosexual men. For example, I attended a panel discussion at the All Party Parliamentary Group on RE on 16 July.</p><p>All state funded schools are required by legislation or by their funding agreements to teach RE to all registered pupils aged 5 to 18 years.
