star this property answer text <p>It is important that we deliver excellent education for our children and young people across the United Kingdom.</p><p> </p><p>The Secretary of State for Northern Ireland understands the pressures and decisions facing education centres across Northern Ireland. The Government has committed to publishing a report on or before 4 September 2019 on higher education provision in Northern Ireland.</p><p> </p><p>As education is devolved these matters are of course for an incoming NI Executive to consider. That is why securing a successful outcome to the talks process, so that a functioning NI Executive can be restored, is the Secretary of State’s absolute priority.</p><p> </p><p>In the meantime, I will pass on the Noble Lord’s concerns to the Department of Education.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>​The UK has had a public register of company beneficial ownership since 2016 and the Government is spearheading an international campaign that seeks to make public registers the global norm by 2023, working with our international partners.</p><p>The Crown Dependencies recently committed to implement their own publicly accessible registers of company beneficial ownership in line with EU norms and Gibraltar has passed legislation which will allow it to introduce publically accessible registers.</p><p>The other Overseas Territory (OTs) Governments are working together, and with the UK Government, to ensure they remain in step with international standards on transparency. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is working with the OTs to determine the potential financial impact of implementing publicly accessible registers of beneficial ownership.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>HS2 Ltd is planning to install a trackside optical fibre network along the Phase One HS2 line to provide digital connectivity for its passengers. As part of work to design this network, HS2 Ltd is working with the Department for Transport and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to consider options for offering capacity to third parties, in order to share the benefit of HS2’s investment in optical fibre with local communities.</p><p> </p><p>Separately from HS2, the Prime Minister has recently set out ambitions for accelerating the roll-out of gigabit capable broadband across the UK.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) has awarded over £300m in grants via Innovate UK into ultra-low emission technologies. Although no project is currently exploring solar panelled vehicles we would, of course, continue to welcome proposals related to this area in relevant future competitions and are aware the industry is already exploring this technology.</p><p> </p><p>HM Government has funded development of novel photovoltaics for applying on windows and doors. For example, UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), through the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council has provided £1m to Swansea University, the University of Glasgow, and Science &amp; Technology Facilities Council Laboratories for research into thin film solid state dye-sensitized solar cells on glass. BEIS’s Energy Entrepreneur Fund and UKRI have funded research on perovskite solar cells for windows at Oxford Photovoltaics, Nyak Technology Ltd &amp; Centre for Process Innovation Ltd. UKRI are investing £36m in the Active Building research centre in Wales, which investigates building integrated solar energy conversion.</p>

star this property answer text <p>The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme is operated by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) in partnership with local authorities across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.</p><p>For businesses offering online ordering of food, legislation requiring provision of the rating at the point of choice is expected to be introduced in Northern Ireland once the Assembly is back in operation and Wales are exploring the introduction of a similar legislative requirement.</p><p>The case for extending mandatory display to England is being finalised by the FSA for ministerial consideration and ultimately cross-Government approval. As increasing numbers of food businesses provide online ordering services for consumers, for England, provision of food hygiene ratings online will be considered in the case being finalised for ministers.</p><p>To date the FSA has not undertaken any research to assess the proportion of online food businesses that display ratings, but work is underway to develop methodology to monitor this.</p>

star this property answer text <p>The recently published Tourism Sector Deal sets out Government’s support for improving tourism for visitors with accessibility requirements. Working with VisitBritain, we aim to improve the sharing of good practice across the sector, continue to provide excellent business support and promote our accessible tourism product.</p><p> </p><p>Additionally, the Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work has appointed a number of Sector Champions including Champions for Art and Culture, Hotels, Tourism and Countryside and Heritage. These champions use their influential status as leaders within their sectors to drive improvements to the accessibility and quality of services and facilities for disabled people. They also share good practice both widely within their sectors and with others.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The museum sector in England is vibrant and dynamic, and has an impact on a wide variety of social outcomes including education, health and wellbeing, community cohesion and social inclusion. Independent museums are an important and successful part of the museums sector: around half of the museums accredited by Arts Council England are independent. In addition, the Association of Independent Museums estimates that they are visited by over 9 million people annually.</p><p> </p><p>Over the last ten years, museums have received over £800m annually from public sources. DCMS supports museums through Arts Council England, the museum sector development agency. Arts Council England funds some independent museums directly as National Portfolio Organisations, as well as supporting many projects run by them through its grants programmes and strategic funds. It also funds Sector Support Organisations and Museum</p><p>Development organisations which can also assist independent museums. Independent museums are eligible for other public funding such as capital grants from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and support for permanent and temporary exhibitions through the Museums and Galleries tax relief introduced in 2017. The £4m 2018-20 round of DCMS/Wolfson Museums and Galleries Improvement Fund awarded 40% of its funding to independent museums.</p>
