The working group is supported by input from the National Oceanography Centre, Natural History Museum and British Geological Survey. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/08/2019 answer text <p>In September 2018, alongside the Agriculture Bill and policy statement, the Government published an ‘Analysis of the impacts of removing Direct Payments’. This provided an overview of the potential impacts to different farm types and sizes of moving away from direct payments and introducing a new system of public money for public goods.<del class="ministerial"> It also showed the potential across all sectors for farmers to become more efficient – producing more for less – as a response to any reductions in direct payments.</del></p><p> </p><p><del class="ministerial">Direct payments are untargeted, poor value for money, undermine efficiency and productivity improvements, and limit opportunities for new entrants. They have imposed unnecessary bureaucracy on farmers and can inflate rent prices. Some of our most successful and vibrant food-producing sectors of agriculture have never been subsidised. For example the poultry industry, the pig industry and the horticulture industry.</del></p><p> </p><p><ins class="ministerial">Direct payments are arbitrary payments based on land area that tend to favour larger land owners rather than smaller family farming businesses.</ins> In England we will phase out direct payments during an agricultural transition, giving time for farmers to adjust. With the forthcoming move to new Embassy premises, the Steppe Inne will close but plans are being developed to arrange Steppe Inne nights at an alternative venue in Ulaanbaatar. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 31/07/2019 answer text <p>The British Ambassador in Peru raised Media Freedom with Foreign Minister Popolizio on 24 June, extending to him an invitation to the Global Conference on Media Freedom in London in July.</p><p>In his opening speech at the Conference, the former Foreign Secretary hailed the work of Investigative Journalist Gustavo Gorriti of IDL-Reporteros, noting that he &quot;has brought to light a series of corruption scandals involving business, the government and the judiciary&quot;. Mr Gorriti sent a video message in support of the Conference, and his fellow investigative journalists Paola Ugaz and Pedro Salinas were able to attend at the British Government's invitation.</p><p>The United Kingdom is fully committed to the promotion of media freedom and the protection of journalists. In 2019, the former Foreign Secretary announced our launch of the international campaign to end the climate of impunity and mobilise a consensus behind protection of journalists worldwide. We are currently considering how this campaign can best add value and reinforce existing mechanisms, including those of the UN and other international organisations. The previous Prime Minister raised the need for political dialogue with Prime Minister Rama at the Poznan Summit. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/09/2019 answer text <p>Coverage of women’s professional sport on free to air television has improved significantly in the last ten years, with the FIFA Women’s World Cup and Euro Championships, Women’s Rugby World Cup, cycling and tennis being regular fixtures on the BBC and ITV.</p><p> </p><p>We know that more can be done to improve equality in sports broadcasting. That is why we have just announced our proposal to add the Paralympic Games to the list and we have started the statutory consultation process to do that. We are also considering the addition of women’s only sporting events where the equivalent men’s only tournaments are currently listed, which we plan to consult on later in the year. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/07/2019 answer text <p>The Government has provided local government with over £200 billion for this spending period and while councils make their own spending decisions, we would expect councils to prioritise what they do to deliver what their residents want to see and to invest in waste and recycling facilities as necessary to ensure good waste management practice.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is also investing around £3 billion of grant funding in 24 Private Finance Initiative (PFI) waste infrastructure projects.
