unstar this property answer text <p>Any company meeting the standards for the manufacture of unlicensed medicinal products, can supply cannabis-based products for medicinal use.</p><p>Cannabis-based products for medicinal use are Schedule 2 controlled drugs under the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001, which means that manufacturers, importers and distributors of these products must hold valid Home Office and Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) licences for the relevant activities which will include possession, supply and production of controlled drugs. Where products are sourced from abroad, importers must obtain an import licence from the Home Office and the MHRA each time they import these products.</p> more like this

Friend the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care has had numerous discussions with cabinet ministers to discuss a range of topics in advance of the Spending Review. Public health funding for 2020 onwards, including for HIV and sexual health services, will be considered carefully in the next Spending Review, in the light of the available evidence.</p><p>It is for individual local authorities to decide their spending priorities based on an assessment of local need, including sexual health services, taking account of their statutory duties. Participation in the pre-exposure prophylaxis Impact Trial is on a voluntary basis.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The Department has not assessed the potential benefits to public health of stopping the advertising of high sugar milk and milk-replacement products on public transport.</p><p> </p><p>As committed to in the second chapter of our childhood obesity plan, published in June 2018, the Department of Health and Social Care and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport have jointly consulted on introducing further advertising restrictions for products high in fat, sugar and salt (HFSS) on TV and online. As part of this consultation we invited views on whether the scope of this consultation should be extended to other forms of media and how HFSS products should be defined. We have received a high level of responses to the consultation and it is important we take the time to consider them carefully before we set out further action.</p><p> </p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The interim NHS People Plan, published on 3 June 2019, puts the workforce at the heart of the National Health Service and will ensure we have the staff needed to deliver high quality care. A final People Plan will be published soon after the conclusion of the 2019 Spending Review.</p><p>Phase 1 of the Cancer Workforce Plan for England, published in December 2017 by Health Education England (HEE), set out plans to expand capacity and skills in the cancer workforce, including targeting additional training support for seven priority professions which are key to cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment, such as clinical radiology, histopathology, oncology and diagnostic and therapeutic radiography.</p><p>HEE will now work with NHS England and NHS Improvement to understand the longer-term workforce implications of further development of cancer services. This is due to necessary changes in their manufacturing process, meaning that Calea is operating at reduced capacity. We understand the concerns of those who use these products. We are working closely with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, NHS England and NHS Improvement, the supplier and national experts to resolve this supply issue as quickly as possible to ensure patients requiring parenteral nutrition can be maintained on treatment.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The Department collaborated with the Royal College of Physicians on the National Review of Asthma Deaths and welcomed this report. Since its publication, significant improvements have been made in asthma care.</p><p>Respiratory disease, including asthma, is a clinical priority within the NHS Long Term Plan, which aims to improve outcomes for patients through earlier diagnosis and increased access to treatments. The Respiratory Delivery Board will take forward respiratory proposals set out in the Plan by working with key partners.</p><p>The National Health Service is supporting the national asthma audit programme which provides data on a range of indicators to show improvements and opportunities in asthma outcomes. NHS RightCare will be publishing an asthma toolkit later this year to support local commissioners and systems in delivering quality care. A best practice tariff for asthma, which aims to reduce variation in asthma care, is also in development.</p><p>The current quality outcomes framework (QOF) indicators for asthma are in consultation and changes for the annual review indicators may include data on asthma control; exacerbations; and written personalised action plans.</p><p>As set out in the NHS Long Term Plan, pharmacies in primary care networks will undertake medicine reviews for asthma patients. This will include education on inhaler use and uptake of dry powder and smart inhalers where clinically appropriate.</p><p>Finally, the NHS Long Term Plan commits to offering stop smoking interventions to all inpatients, pregnant women and high-risk outpatient specialties by the end of 2023/24. Recording of smoking status is part of the proposed QOF indicator for asthma.</p>

unstar this property answer text <p>The National Health Service is working closely with voluntary sector partners to improve patient outcomes for those with severe asthma and a National Health Service Cardiovascular Disease-Respiratory national programme has been developed in line with recommendations from the Taskforce for Lung Health.</p><p>Both respiratory disease and the health of children and young people are priority areas in the NHS Long Term Plan, which aims to improve respiratory care through earlier diagnosis and increased access to treatments. The Respiratory Delivery Board will take forward respiratory proposals set out in the Plan, while the Children’s Transformation Board will oversee work to review national asthma policy and existing clinical guidelines.</p><p>The current quality outcomes framework indicators for asthma are in consultation and changes for the annual review indicators may include data on asthma control; exacerbations; and written personalised action plans. NHS RightCare will be publishing an asthma toolkit later this year to support local commissioners and systems in delivering quality care.
