answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/06/2019 answer text <p>The United Kingdom participates in various transparency initiatives, including the European Integrated Price Information Database, the World Health Organization’s Pharmaceutical Pricing Reimbursement Information Network, and the Global Fund Price and Quality Database. The UK has a long-established and globally-recognised track record of assessing the price of new, innovative medicines according to their clinical value, rather than pricing by their development costs or international reference prices.</p><p>We believe that is the right approach: ensuring the development of the best medicines in areas of high unmet need are rewarded. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/06/2019 answer text <p>The UK is a long-standing supporter of the polio eradication efforts led by the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. These efforts have been incredibly successful, seeing a 99% reduction in cases of polio over the last 30 years.</p><p> </p><p>The Global Polio Eradication Initiative has recently published its new strategic plan for the next phase of eradication activities, until 2023. The strategy does not commit to eradicate Polio by a certain date, as we know that the virus is still circulating in the most difficult environments where it’s extremely hard to reach every last child, such as parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan. There will be a Polio moment in November when international donors are expected to announce ongoing commitment to the global eradication efforts. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/06/2019 answer text <p>The vast majority of medicines are not subject to supply problems and every day over 2 million prescription items are successfully dispensed in England.</p><p>Where problems do occur the Department’s Medicines Supply Team has well established procedures to deal with medicine shortages and works closely with all stakeholders to help prevent shortages and to ensure that the risks to patients are minimised when they do arise.</p><p>We are aware of ongoing supply issues with the Adalat range of the drug nifedipine due to manufacturing capacity constraints. OPSS has been assessing the response by Whirlpool closely and the investigation remains ongoing.</p><p> </p><p>On 4<sup>th</sup> June the Office for Product Safety and Standards notified Whirlpool of its intention to serve a recall notice in respect of the remaining unmodified tumble dryers still in use.
