star this property answer text
My Department has developed strong relationships with the Organising Committees for Tokyo 2020 (TOCOG) and Paris 2024, and has consistently promoted UK strengths in the Sports Economy sector, via inward and outward missions, one-to-one meetings, events and marketing collateral.

The responsibility for how specific contracts are tendered and awarded for Olympic and Paralympic Games lies solely with each local Organising Committee. HMG has encouraged both Organising Committees to utilise international best practice. Tokyo 2020 has a procurement portal listing upcoming contracts, which is fully accessible to UK companies.

All tenders for the Paris 2024 Games will be published on the “Bulletin Officiel”, the official platform for public procurement in France. This platform is open to companies globally, and UK companies can freely bid for tenders. DIT are working closely with our colleagues in France to ensure relevant opportunities for these games are directed towards potential UK suppliers.

star this property answer text
A Joint UK-Peru Infrastructure Task Force launched in September 2018 in Lima with a second meeting in London in February 2019. The Task Force objective is to share experience and best practice on planning and delivering major infrastructure projects. The former Minister of State for Trade and Export Promotion (Baroness Fairhead) had policy responsibility for the objectives of the Task Force. Until a successor is in post, my Hon. Friend the Minister of State for Investment (Graham Stuart) has policy responsibility.

Key outcomes of the first meetings were to support Peru in developing a National Infrastructure Plan by July 2019, and to develop national strategies for methodologies that will ensure the effective delivery of that plan, with support from HMG’s Prosperity Fund Global Infrastructure Programme.
more like this

star this property answer text
Taiwan is an important trading partner for the UK. Our bilateral trade was £6.6bn in 2018, an increase of 16.4% from 2017. UK exports to Taiwan grew by 40% from £1.96bn to £2.76bn (latest [ONS] data). As we leave the EU, we are committed to strengthening our trade partnership with Taiwan, and across Asia Pacific, including through the annual UK-Taiwan Trade Talks – due to take place in London in October. The Department of International Trade’s Ministers visited Taiwan twice last year, and events like the Taipei Smart Cities Summit and Expo held in March are a crucial way to strengthen relationships in key sectors.
more like this
