It costs the UK at least £37 billion every year. <br>The newly updated Serious and Organised Crime Strategy, published on 1st November 2018, sets out how the Government will mobilise the full force of the state and align the collective efforts of key partners from the public, private and voluntary sectors to tackle serious and organised crime together in one single approach.</p><p>We also continue to invest in the right capabilities and tools for law enforcement, across Government and in partnership with the private sector to tackle SOC effectively.</p><p>The cross-system approach is aligned to the four strategy objectives: <br>o Relentless disruption and targeted action against the highest harm serious and organised criminals and networks affecting the UK</p><p>o Building the highest levels of defence and resilience in vulnerable people, communities, businesses and systems</p><p>o Stopping the problem at source, identifying and supporting those at risk of engaging in criminality</p><p>o Establishing a single, whole-system response, aligning the efforts of all those involved in responding to serious and organised crime as one, cohesive system.</p><p>The Government has already made some early progress in implementing the Serious and Organised Crime Strategy. For example, we have:<br>• established and expanded the new community coordinator programme pilot areas in England and in Wales to promote community resilience and divert people away from serious and organised crime; <br>• deployed a new cross-government overseas policy specialists network to complement existing international law enforcement operational work abroad;. <br>• established a National UK Protected Persons Services in the National Crime Agency on 1st April 2019, through the transfer of England and Wales based Protected Person Units, to ensure the best protection possible is available to individuals while enhanc-ing judicial outcomes across the Criminal Justice Service. <br> <br>The Government is determined to prevent serious and organised crime, defend against it, track down perpetrators and bring them to justice. As committed in the Anti-Corruption Strategy, the Home Office is leading on a comprehensive work programme to understand, manage and mitigate this vulnerability. Alongside Strategy implementation, law enforcement agencies continue to target the organised crime groups who use corruption, collusion and coercion to enable criminality at our airports and ports.</p><p>Border Force itself is working to address the risk, including raising staff awareness of their vulnerability to attempts by Organised Crime Gangs to compromise their integrity. Measures are being put in place to encourage staff to declare such attempts or any potentially compromising developments in their personal lives, so they can be protected and mitigations put in place. That is why we have proposed reciprocal mobility arrangements with the EU that support businesses to provide services and move their talented people. We also want to discuss how to facilitate the temporary mobility of self-employed professionals and employees providing services.</p><p>The Political Declaration agreed between the UK and the EU negotiating parties specifically acknowledges the importance of mobility for cultural cooperation. The detail of our reciprocal mobility arrangements will be discussed in the next phase of negotiations. It is the responsibility of the HCPC to determine the level of fees that it charges registrants. It would therefore not be appropriate for the Government to seek a guarantee from the HCPC that it will not increase its fees for at least the next four years.</p><p>Following public consultation, the HCPC is planning to raise its annual fees by £16, from £90 to £106 a year from October 2019. HCPC registration fees will remain the lowest of any of the United Kingdom-wide health and care regulators. Mental health support services provided by trusts could include access to occupational health services, employee assistance programmes, confidential counselling helplines, processes for open sharing of experiences, crisis and trauma response provision and team and peer support structures.</p><p>The Department is supporting them in this through the NHS staff health and wellbeing framework and NHS Improvement’s NHS staff health and wellbeing collaborative. This represented 3.6% of DFID’s workforce and 21% of the overall sickness absence for the department during this period. The estimated cost to DFID due to sickness absence during the period 1 May 2018 to 30 April 2019 was £217,350.</p><p> </p><p>DFID is committed to the health and wellbeing of all our staff, including helping them to manage stress in the workplace. DFID offers a range of guidance and services in place to support staff, including our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), which offers telephone and face to face counselling for all staff. This service also provides a wide range of online information and advice on work/life issues. DFID’s HR teams and Occupational Health Services provide support and advice for staff and managers to ensure a successful return to work after a period of mental ill health. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/05/2019 answer text <p>The British Government is deeply disturbed by the UN Panel of Expert's findings that Dong Samuel Luak and Aggrey Idri were abducted from Kenya and executed in South Sudan by the South Sudanese national security service in 2017. We call on the South Sudanese Government to respond to these findings, and ensure that its defence and security forces are subject to the rule of law, to prevent future disappearances. <br> <br>The disappearance of these individuals and concerns for their safety have been raised by the British Ambassador, and by the UK Special Envoy for South Sudan with senior members of the South Sudanese Government on a number of occasions. The case has also been raised in Nairobi with the Kenyan authorities. This is part of a troubling pattern of harassment and intimidation of civic actors by South Sudanese authorities. The British Government regularly calls for the release of all political prisoners in accordance with the 12 September peace agreement. We also led efforts to renew the mandate of the UN Commission on Human Rights in South Sudan in March, and support the renewal of the Panel of Experts mandate due at the end of May. However, in the absence of information from the South Sudanese authorities, it is not possible to determine precise figures. <br> <br>We regularly press the Government of South Sudan for the release of all political prisoners in accordance with its commitments. An end to restrictions on freedom of expression is vital if South Sudan is to realise the opportunity of peace the September agreement offers. The Government of South Sudan's failure to comply with this provision of the agreement undermines confidence in their commitment to achieving a meaningful peace.
