The award of a franchise may constitute a relevant merger situation under the Enterprise Act 2002, or a concentration under the EU Merger Regulation, and therefore may be investigated by the Competition and Markets Authority or European Commission, depending on the identity of the bidder. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/04/2019 answer text <p>Apprenticeship policy is devolved to Scotland, and any measures to promote apprenticeships there are a matter for the Scottish government.</p><p>In England, we want to increase the number of high-quality apprenticeships. In January we launched a major new communication campaign, ‘Fire it Up’, which seeks to change the way people think about apprenticeships and demonstrate that they are an aspirational choice for anyone with passion and energy.</p><p>National Apprenticeship week, which took place 4-8 March this year, is an annual opportunity to celebrate apprenticeships and their impact on individuals, employers, and the economy. This year’s theme, ‘Blaze a Trail’, was inspired by the Fire it Up campaign and featured in over 1250 events across the country to encourage everyone to recognise the change that apprenticeships can bring. We subsequently extended the programme over a total of 6 academic years. Funding for the scheme, secured through the last Spending Review, has now come to an end.</p><p>We have been working closely with FE providers and representative organisations to understand the current challenges faced around teacher recruitment and retention in the sector. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/04/2019 answer text <p>None of the vaccines currently recommended for use as part of the United Kingdom routine immunisation programme contains the preservative thiomersal.</p><p>The safety of thiomersal-containing vaccines has been extensively evaluated in studies which have found no evidence to suggest thiomersal is associated with any serious or long-term risks. Such studies have mostly been in young children. The most recent assessment in the <em>Weekly epidemiological record</em> was undertaken by the World Health Organization in 2012, which advised that the available evidence strongly supports the safety of the use of thiomersal in vaccines where required.
