	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/03/2019 answer text <p>Once the UK leaves the European Union, the legislation that provides for the holding of European Parliamentary elections will no longer be necessary.</p><p>The European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 (“the 2018 Act”) repeals the underlying pieces of legislation providing for the holding of European Parliamentary elections. The repeal of these provisions will come into effect on such a day as is set out in commencement Regulations. The European Parliamentary Elections Etc. (Repeal, Revocation, Amendment and Saving Provisions) (United Kingdom and Gibraltar) (EU Exit) Regulations 2018 were made on 3rd December 2018 under powers in the 2018 Act. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/03/2019 answer text <p>The Public Services Leadership Taskforce, chaired by Sir Gerry Grimstone, was commissioned in October 2017 to explore the challenges faced by public service leaders.</p><p>The Government has accepted the Taskforce recommendations in full and has committed £21m to a three-year pilot of a new Centre to support public service leaders, which will be named the National Leadership Centre. It will consist of between 11 and 13 Board members plus the Chair. The Chair will be appointed by my rt. hon. Friend the Secretary of State, following the public appointments process, while the remaining Board members will be appointed by the Chair from a short list provided by the FRC Nominations Committee. The Committee will be required to follow the recommendations on diversity made in the Independent Review of the FRC and the Secretary of State will retain a veto over any of the appointments. All posts will follow an open and transparent recruitment process.</p><p> </p><p>Preliminary work for appointing the Chair and Board members has begun. We expect a Chair to be in place by the end of 2019, with an announcement shortly before. This would apply for up to 12 months while a full consultation, and review on a permanent approach, is undertaken. Tariffs will apply to a number of categories of finished vehicles due to the importance of the sector and broader challenging market conditions.</p><p> </p><p>BEIS Ministers and officials regularly engage with the automotive industry, including bilaterals with manufacturers, interactions via trade associations, and through BEIS’s participation in the Automotive Council. This insight supports policy development within BEIS and work with other Departments.</p><p> </p><p>Leaving the EU with a deal that supports the future of British industry remains the government’s top priority. As set out in the Political Declaration, the UK and the EU have agreed on a free trade area for goods, including automotive. Latest figures for the third quarter of 2018 show that manufacturing business investment was 4.4% up on the previous quarter but 1.9% down on the third quarter of the previous year. Estimates for the fourth quarter of 2018 will be published on 29th March.</p><p> </p><p>Latest manufacturing output figures for January 2019 report an increase of 0.8% on the previous month, following six months of consecutive declines, though a fall of 1.1% on January of 2019. Looking at the more stable 3 month on 3 month trend output in the 3 months to January 2019 was down by 0.7% on output in the 3 months to October 2018.</p><p> </p><p>Business investment in construction in the third quarter of 2018 was up by 2.1% on the previous quarter though down by 13.5% on the third quarter of 2017. Latest output figures show that construction grew by 0.7% in 2018 and by 2.8% in January 2019, remaining at the record levels reported in the second half of 2018. It shows that only 10% of girls in years 9-11 (13-16) are reaching the Chief Medical Officers’ guidance of 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Levels of activity for girls aged over 16 are captured by the Active Lives (adult) survey, which has a slightly different methodology and so cannot be directly compared. Both surveys are available on Sport England’s website.</p><p> </p><p>Government is committed to addressing the gender gap in physical activity levels for boys and girls, including the drop-off in engagement from primary to secondary school. It is important that girls have access to the right sporting opportunities, both in and out of school.</p><p>This is something government committed to tackle in the Sporting Future strategy.
