star this property answer text <p>The Government takes the conservation of species seriously. The import of hunting trophies of endangered species into the UK is subject to strict controls. A permit will only be issued if no detrimental impact on the sustainability of endangered species is demonstrated and the trophy has been obtained from a legal and sustainable hunting operation. We will always do whatever we can to protect the world’s most iconic species.</p><p> </p><p>Some conservation non-governmental organisations have set out how in certain limited and rigorously controlled cases, scientific evidence shows that trophy hunting can be an effective conservation tool.</p> more like this

Confidentiality requirements are a common element of contractual obligations and are used by departments to protect commercial considerations; to reflect the sensitive nature of some discussions; and to facilitate conversations that otherwise may not have been able to take place, due to concerns around sensitive information.</p><p> </p><p>The requested information on the number of NDAs and the companies which have entered into NDAs is not held centrally by Defra and could not be provided without incurring disproportionate cost.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In its 2017 Clean Growth Strategy the UK Government committed to work towards no food waste being sent to landfill by 2030. In our 25 Year Environment Plan we stated that recycling food waste is a key priority. Many local authorities have introduced separate collections of food waste and we support an increase in numbers so that the amount of food waste sent to landfill continues to decline. We will outline further plans in our upcoming Resources and Waste Strategy.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>On 26 November, we published with the Met Office, a new set of UK Climate Projections 2018. This is the first major update to the UK’s national climate change projections for nearly 10 years.</p><p> </p><p>Coastal change through erosion or flooding of land has always been a risk for those living and working by the sea. These projections show we can continue to expect increases to extreme coastal water levels, driven mainly by increases in mean sea level rise, although we cannot rule out additional changes in storm surges.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is investing over £1.2 billion of Government funding as part of our current programme to better protect 170,000 properties from coastal flooding and erosion in the 6 years up to 2021.</p><p> </p><p>We are considering future needs for investment in flood and coastal erosion risk management, ahead of a review of flood and coastal erosion funding beyond 2021. The updated climate projections will be taken into consideration as part of this work.</p>

The role of locally elected Police and Crime Commissioners is to hold their forces to account, including on how they tackle the crimes that matter most to residents and businesses. The National Wildlife Crime Unit includes hare coursing as one of its priorities. In addition, the six police forces across the East of England have come together and are deploying Operation Galileo to tackle hare coursing.</p><p> </p> more like this

This is built on access to diverse sources of supply, including our excellent domestic production. Consumers will continue to have a wide choice of food after we leave the EU.</p><p> </p><p>While we are making sensible preparations for all eventualities as we leave the EU, there are no plans for the Government to store food.</p><p> </p><p>Defra recently published a series of Technical Notices outlining preparations in the event of leaving the EU without a deal.
