The latest figures, for the year ending June 2018, can be accessed here:</p><p><a href="https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/datasets/crimeinenglandandwalesappendixtables" target="_blank">https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/datasets/crimeinenglandandwalesappendixtables</a></p><p>Crimes involving taxi fare evasion will be included within the category of making off without payment along with other incidents such as driving off from a petrol station without paying for fuel and leaving a restaurant without paying the bill. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/11/2018 answer text <p>The Department’s Best Practice Guidance suggests that signs or notices that set out the expectations of passengers when travelling in a taxi or private hire vehicle (PHV) are displayed. This could include that passengers ensure they are aware of the fare on the meter and notify the driver if it is approaching the limit of their financial means. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/11/2018 answer text <p>It is not possible to identify from centrally held data the number of defendants successfully prosecuted for an offence of avoidance of taxi fares in each year since 2010, as there is no current specific offence for the avoidance of taxi fares.
