star this property answer text <p>The Government has rescheduled cannabis-based products for medicinal use from Schedule 1 to Schedule 2 of the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001. Doctors on the specialist register of the General Medical Council may now prescribe these products where there might be potential benefit to individual patients. General practitioners will not be able to prescribe but the Government has commissioned the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence to produce guidance for all clinicians by October 2019.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Block Grant Transparency publication (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/block-grant-transparency-december-2017-publication) sets out details of all additions to the Devolved Administrations’ budgets since the 2015 Spending Review. The Barnett Formula will have been applied to all changes to the DCMS budget at both Spending Reviews and at Fiscal Events in the normal way as set out in the Statement of Funding Policy.</p><p> </p><p>Companies from across the country have been directly engaged in legacy infrastructure and projects - for example, South Wales based Pro Steel were awarded contracts as part of the transformation of the Olympic Stadium roof post-2012 Games, they secured a £1m loan to enable them to compete for the work from Finance Wales. Pro Steel were also awarded a subcontract by BAM Nuttal for transformation work in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park post games consisting of re-purposing and construction of a bridge in the north of the Park near the Velodrome. They were also awarded the contract to make modifications and strengthening works to another bridge, and supply and installation of a third bridge.</p><p> </p><p>Last week I met with my counterparts in Wales and Scotland to discuss the many opportunities the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games presents to the whole of the UK. The department and I look forward to continuing to work closely with the devolved nations to ensure the many opportunities the Games presents - from hosting the Queen's Baton Relay to providing a base for athletes to train - are seized across the country.</p>

star this property answer text <p>Natural England, like all other Defra sponsored bodies, receives a budget to carry out its duties and responsibilities in line with what is affordable and the Government’s priorities for the natural environment. Natural England has responded to the need to balance public spending and to deploy resources to best effect. This is reflected in Natural England’s ‘Conservation 21’ strategy which sets out how it will work with local area based partners to deliver its core purpose. As part of planning for the Spending Review 2019, Defra will work with Natural England to determine the future funding necessary to deliver Natural England’s contribution to the Government’s 25 Year Environment Plan, including the scope for broadening its income base.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The United Kingdom Five Year Antimicrobial Resistance Strategy (2013-18) contained a commitment to assess the effectiveness of its implementation plan at the end of the five-year period. The Department commissioned the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine to undertake a full evaluation of the strategy’s implementation.</p><p> </p><p>The evaluation is nearing completion. A final draft report will be submitted to the Department shortly and will be sent out for independent peer-review. The completed report will be put in the public domain next year.</p> more like this
