	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/11/2018 answer text <p>We believe the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA) remains the best way of preventing a nuclear-armed Iran and we are determined to see it maintained for as long as Iran complies with it. The deal is a critical agreement that makes the world a safer place and it is working; Iran remains constrained by the strict nuclear limits in the deal and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) retains unprecedented access to monitor and verify Iran's activities. IAEA reports continue to confirm that Iran is adhering to the nuclear limits in the JCPoA.</p><p>As set out in my Written Ministerial Statement to Parliament on Monday 5 November, we have been clear with the US about our determination to preserve the JCPoA, and the fact that this is driven by our national security interests. The UK is working with France and Germany on a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to enable continued sanctions relief to reach Iran, and to allow for European exporters and importers to trade in compliance with EU and UN sanctions.</p><p>In parallel to our work with partners to maintain the JCPoA, we continue to take steps with our partners against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps destabilising behaviour across the region and to hold Iran to account on human rights, including its treatment of British-Iranians detained in Iran.</p> answering member constituency North East Bedfordshire answering member printed Alistair Burt question first answered 12/11/2018 16:00:39 answering member 1201 label Biography information for Alistair Burt

The Global Coalition against Daesh, of which we are a member, works closely with the SDF in the ongoing fight against Daesh and engages with them on a number of related issues, including the situation of former Daesh fighters and their families, including children. As part of our significant humanitarian programme, the UK is expanding support for non-formal education activities in former Daesh-controlled areas in Northeast Syria, alongside psychosocial support for children affected by trauma. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/11/2018 answer text <p>The UK is discussing with UN Security Council partners what more the Council can do to address the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and step up support for the work of the UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths. The Foreign Secretary discussed this step with the UN Special Envoy and they agreed that the time was right for the Council to act to bolster the UN led process. I met UN Resident Coordinator in Yemen, Lisa Grande, on 8 November in Abu Dhabi to discuss the situation in Yemen and the UN's humanitarian work.</p><p>A nationwide ceasefire will only have an effect on the ground if it is underpinned by a political deal between the conflict parties. There is a small but real chance that a cessation of hostilities could alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people. Since 2000, Gavi has helped to immunise 690 million children, preventing more than 10 million deaths. We see Gavi’s Mid-Term Review meeting as a crucial opportunity to celebrate Gavi’s extraordinary work, whilst also critically assessing how it can make even further progress in improving access to lifesaving vaccines for the world’s most vulnerable people.</p><p>Regretfully, diary pressures mean Ministers are unavailable to attend the meeting. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/11/2018 answer text <p>UK Official Development Assistance does not provide financial assistance or assets to support the Palestinian Authority (PA) agencies implicated in the Human Rights Watch report and continues to have a no contact policy with Hamas in its entirety. The report has made some serious and concerning allegations about human rights violations by the PA and we have immediately raised our concerns with the Palestinian Ministry of Interior. We continue to urge the PA to respect human rights, to ensure complaints of mistreatment or arbitrary detention are properly investigated and to continue to improve the performance of the security sector.</p><p> </p><p>The Ministry of Defence (MOD) currently delivers training courses and supports the development of training institutions across the Palestinian Authority security sector. Participants from two agencies referenced in the report, the Preventative Security Organisation and General Intelligence Service, have attended courses delivered by the MOD and by training institutions that are supported by the MOD. Egypt is a Foreign and Commonwealth Office Human Rights Priority Country and the UK regularly raises concerns about human rights with the Egyptian Government both in public and private. On 18 September we issued a statement at the UN Human Rights Council in which we raised specific concern about the 'arrests of activists, bloggers and journalists'. I also raised our human rights concerns with the Egyptian Foreign Minister during my visit to Cairo on 14 October.
