<p>A count of finished admission episodes with a primary diagnosis and a primary or
secondary diagnosis of type 1 diabetes in National Health Service trusts in the years
2013-14 to 2017-18 is shown in the attached table. The primary diagnosis is the main
reason why the patient is admitted to hospital. A secondary diagnosis is used where
there are other diagnoses relevant to the episode of care.</p><p> </p><p>This data
shows a count of episodes, not patients as the same patient may have had more than
one admission episode within the same time period.</p>
