star this property answer text
The Government is committed to tackling extremism in all its forms.

The 2015 Counter-Extremism Strategy sets out a four year programme of work for defeating extremism at source. Since 2015 the Government has funded additional security measures in 129 places of worship, including places targeted by far-right extremists; excluded and refused entry to the UK to known far-right extremists; created a network of more than 160 civil society partners confronting extremism in their communities; and supported Local Authorities tackling far-right extremism. The newly established independent Commission for Countering Extremism has been given a clear remit to identify and challenge extremism in all its forms.

In December 2016, the neo-Nazi group National Action became the first extreme right-wing group to be proscribed by Government as a terrorist organisation. The Government’s updated and strengthened Counter-Terrorism Strategy (CONTEST) addresses all forms of terrorism and confirms that extreme right-wing terrorism is a growing threat. Since 2017, the police and the security and intelligence agencies have disrupted four extreme right-wing terrorist plots. CONTEST confirms the Security Service will have greater involvement in the assessment and investigation of extreme right-wing terrorism.

star this property answer text
Over the last few years, this Government has provided an unprecedented level of support for our vital offshore oil and gas industry that supports more than 300,000 jobs across the UK. Several sectors, including the oil and gas sector have expressed an interest in a sector deal and we are considering seriously these credible industry-led proposals. We intend to take forward some further deals that best meet expectations set out in the White Paper in due course.

more like this

star this property answer text
Drugs are illegal where there is scientific and medical evidence that they are harmful to health and society. The possession of any amount of a controlled drug is a criminal offence and the supply of a controlled drug is an even more serious offence. No illegal drug-taking can be assumed to be safe and there is no safe way to take them.

The Government’s approach remains clear: we must prevent illicit drug use in our communities and help those dependent on drugs to recover, while ensuring our drug laws are enforced. In relation to drug testing at festivals, chief constables are responsible for operational decisions in their local area and we are not standing in their way. We are exploring with the National Police Chiefs’ Council whether their advice on this issue needs to be clarified.
more like this

Through our Industrial Strategy, we will make sure that we are using all the tools we have to stimulate growth in places such as the North West. That means using our record investments in infrastructure to unlock growth in every part of the country; using the major new investment in research to support innovative manufacturing businesses across the country; and encouraging inward investment into the parts of the country where we need to get growth going faster. We are also cutting business taxes and slashing red tape.

My rt. hon.
