Any Member of Parliament is able to request for the Export Hub to visit their constituency.</p><p>The logistics for managing the Export Hub is contracted through an external company.</p><p>Many cross-party MPs have spoken highly of the work of the Export Hub at the Department for International Trade’s (DIT) Monthly MPs Briefings which the DIT Ministerial team hosts.</p>

	answer	answer answer text <p><ins class="ministerial">During 2016, there were 26 instances of additional days awarded as a punishment following an adjudication at HM Prison Bedford, totalling 411 additional days.</ins><del class="ministerial">The number of additional days awarded to prisoners at HM Prison Bedford as a result of adjudications in 2016 was 26.</del></p><p> </p><p>Discipline procedures are central to the maintenance of a safe custodial environment. They are provided for by the Prison and Young Offender Institution Rules, which require adjudications to be conducted lawfully, fairly and justly. Independent Adjudicators are District Judges or Deputy District Judges who attend prisons and young offender institutions when necessary to hear those adjudication cases which are deemed to be sufficiently serious. Such cases may merit a punishment of additional days to a prisoner’s time spent in custody if the prisoner or young person is found guilty. Only Independent Adjudicators can make an award of additional days as a punishment. The most serious offences will be referred to the Police.</p>

	answer	answer answer text <p>The Senior Deputy Speaker has asked me, as Chairman of the Services Committee, to respond on his behalf.</p><p>House of Lords Catering and Retail Services (CRS) is taking a pro-active approach to reducing the use of disposable cups within the House’s catering facilities. The River Restaurant and Millbank House Restaurant both provide disposable cups, and in both areas CRS runs an incentive scheme for customers whereby the price of a hot beverage is reduced by 10p (broadly the price of a disposable cup) if a customer brings their own cup. We also provide china cups in the River Restaurant and Millbank House Restaurant and encourage customers to use these when they are dining in, instead of using a disposable cup.</p><p>Regarding procurement, CRS is not aware of a disposable cup for hot beverages that is fully bio-degradable, and until such a product becomes available CRS will have to continue with its current supply. CRS works closely with its suppliers to ensure it would become aware of any new appropriate products should they emerge.</p><p>Through the procurement process, CRS objectives include sourcing products that come from renewable sources (such as those supporting sustainable forestry or low carbon processes). The disposable hot beverage cups currently used are made from sustainable and recycled materials and are an insulated, double walled cup. This reduces disposable consumption by negating the need for an additional sleeve or the practice of customers doubling up cups if thinner, single walled cups are provided.</p><p>CRS has recently received accreditation from the Sustainable Restaurant Association, and looks forward to working alongside the Association to implement innovative solutions for reducing the amount of total disposable products, including cups, that are used across the House of Lords catering venues.</p>

	answer	answer answer text <p>The UK is a world leader in climate change and has always been a party to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) individually as well as through the EU and we are bound by all the obligations of the Paris Agreement under international law.</p><p> </p><p>The UK’s commitment to action to tackle climate change and to the UNFCCC process is not in doubt; we remain firmly committed to the Paris Agreement and to our emissions reduction and climate finance efforts under it. We have demonstrated our commitment domestically – we were the first country to introduce legally binding emissions reduction targets through the Climate Change Act, and we have recently published our highly praised Clean Growth Strategy, which is ambitious and robust in setting out how we will decarbonise the UK economy through the 2020s. The UK is also committed to phasing out unabated coal power generation by 2025, and at the recent twenty-third Conference of the Parties (COP23) the UK, joint with Canada, announced the Powering Past Coal Alliance which gained the support of more than 20 partners. Internationally, through our International Climate Finance we have committed to provide at least £5.8bn between 2016 and 2020 to developing countries, to help them mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change.</p><p> </p><p>Whatever the nature of the future UK-EU relationship, the UK will remain committed to international efforts to tackle climate change, and working closely with the EU will remain very important.</p>

As part of that, I have had a range of discussions with representatives of the UK space sector on the effect of EU exit on the continued strong growth of their sector.</p><p> </p><p>We remain committed to making the UK the best place in Europe to own and grow a business. That includes supporting those businesses that trade with the EU and wider international markets, as well as continuing to encourage record foreign direct investment that supports business and communities up and down the country. As part of the launch of the Government’s ambitious Industrial Strategy on Monday 27 November, the Secretary of State announced a £50 million programme to enable new satellite launch services and low gravity spaceflights from UK spaceports.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>

	answer	answer answer text <p>Regulatory provisions for radioactive substances activities, including the accumulation and management of radioactive waste, are contained in Schedule 23 of the Environmental Permitting Regulations 2016.</p><p> </p><p>On 5 October the government published draft updates to Schedule 23 in “Consultation on Revised requirements for radiological protection: regulation of public exposures and the justification of practices”. The proposals are based on current scientific evidence, as reflected in the latest safety standards issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency and the requirements of the corresponding Euratom Basic Safety Standards Directive, which enters into force in 2018.</p><p> </p><p>The public consultation closed on 15 November. Once the consultation responses have been considered, and subject to parliamentary timetables, updated regulations will be laid before this House in 2018.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>

We will ensure our infrastructure investments actively support our long-term productivity, providing greater certainty and clear strategic direction.</p><p>The Transforming Cities Fund will provide £1.7bn to drive productivity by improving connectivity, reducing congestion and utilising new mobility services and technology, transform local productivity in city-regions.</p><p>We have already seen investment for projects for the North East that include:</p><ul><li>increasing national research and development spending to 2.4 per cent, boosting the North East’s strength in research and innovation</li><li>815,000 people living and working in the North of Tyne will benefit from an ambitious devolution deal agreed between the government and the North of Tyne authorities. This includes a new £600 million long-term investment fund over the next thirty years to be spent on local priorities, such as skills and employment, adult education, and rural productivity.</li><li>a £337 million investment to support a transformative modernisation programme to replace the Tyne &amp; Wear Metro system’s 40-year old trains with a brand-new fleet. This will help to ensure that the Metro system is reliable, runs efficiently, and helps local people get to where they need to be.</li><li>the Tees Valley Combined Authority will receive £59 million from a new £1.7 billion Cities Transformation Fund. Funding will be invested in transport projects which drive productivity by improving connectivity and reducing congestion.</li><li>as announced at Budget, the government is investing £123 million to support the safe development of the Redcar steelworks site in the Tees Valley. Mayor Ben Houchen will set up a Mayoral Development Corporation and use this funding to drive forward an ambitious programme of regeneration for the area.</li><li>The North East has already benefitted from Industrial Strategy funding when the International Centre for Life in Newcastle benefitted from a £13 million funding pot aimed at encouraging more of the public to engage with STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) learning. The money will enable the centre to reinvigorate its visitor experience and develop new STEM learning activities.</li></ul>

	answer	answer answer text <p>The Government sets age-related minimum wages in order to protect younger workers, who may otherwise be more vulnerable to being unemployed than older workers.</p><p> </p><p>The 2017 Low Pay Commission report (Figure 3.15) shows the unemployment rates for young people not in full-time education in the UK is 31.3 per cent for 16-18 year olds, 15.5 per cent for 18-20 year olds. This compares to 8.4 per cent for those aged 21 to 24 in the second quarter of 2017.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is setting minimum thresholds only and we recognise and commend those employers who seek to set higher rates of pay.</p><p> </p>
