star this property answer text
The UK is committed to full implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA) by all parties. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) continues to report Iran's compliance with its commitments under the JCPOA, most recently on 31 August. The Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary have spoken to their US counterparts, making clear that the deal is working and is a UK priority. They have also spoken regularly with their French and German counterparts on this issue. Given President Trump's announcement of 13 October that he will not recertify Iran's compliance with the deal, we are looking at the detail of US proposals and engaging with counterparts in the US, Europe and Iran to examine the implications as we work to preserve the JCPOA.
more like this

star this property answer text
The British Government consistently lobbies against the application of the death penalty, and against the carrying out of such sentences when they are imposed. In respect of UK nationals overseas, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's role is primarily to look after a prisoner's welfare while they are detained. We cannot give or pay for legal advice, start legal proceedings on their behalf or interfere in local judicial procedures. We do not hold any information on, and are therefore not in a position to form a view as to, the legality of the process in this case but we remain resolute opponents of the death penalty.
more like this
